The ghost is Eeshwari, Rajasekhar's murdered wife. She was killed by Rajasekhar after he discovered she was already pregnant when he forcibly married her. Eeshwari possesses Saravanan as part of her plan to get closer to Jyothi. Her ultimate goal is to swap Jyothi's soul with the soul of her own dead child, believing Jyothi is living the life that rightfully belonged to her child. By possessing Saravanan, she gains access to the family and advances her supernatural scheme.

The exorcism attempt that fails and traps one ghost while the other escapes sets up the possession as a more dangerous escalation.

Eeshwari plans to replace Jyothi's soul with that of her own dead child. As Rajasekhar's loyal servant who helped him substitute his daughter for Eeshwari's dead child and later killed Samikannu, Durai is one of the people Eeshwari holds responsible for her suffering. His death triggers Jyothi's return to the family estate.

Durai's death serves as the catalyst that brings Jyothi back into the haunted environment where the spirits can reach her.

Rajasekhar forcibly married Eeshwari after seeing her at the wedding of Saamiyaadi's son, Samikannu. He became obsessed with her beauty and took her by force. This forced marriage is the root of all tragedy, Eeshwari was already pregnant with Samikannu's child, and when Rajasekhar discovered the truth years later, he killed both mother and child.

This backstory explains why Eeshwari's vengeance is specifically targeted at Rajasekhar and those who aided him.

The spirit initially haunted Jyothi as a child, but shifts its focus to Shalu when Jyothi returns as an adult. This shift occurs because Eeshwari's ultimate plan involves Jyothi, specifically, swapping Jyothi's soul with her dead child's soul. By targeting Shalu, the spirit creates chaos and fear that draws the family deeper into investigation, ultimately facilitating Eeshwari's plan to get close to Jyothi.

The paint thinner incident and chandelier attack on Shalu escalate the supernatural threat, forcing the family to seek help.

During a holy festival, Saamiyaadi raises Samikannu's spirit to aid in the confrontation. Ravi and Jyothi trap Eeshwari's child's spirit and bring it to the priests who previously attempted an exorcism. Together, the three spirits, Eeshwari, her child, and Samikannu, are finally banished, freeing Saravanan from possession and ending the haunting.

The final confrontation combines both present-day action and supernatural assistance from Saamiyaadi's ritual.
