In Dubai, a cop named Ruby interrogates a pensioner who begins recounting the life of the infamous Michael. The pensioner describes Michael's rise and crimes, setting the frame for the retrospective narrative. The story then shifts to Michael's past starting in 1992.

In 1992, Michael is a notorious thug in Madurai, working for a smuggler named Senthamarai. He spends his days with his sidekicks Somu and Sabi, carrying out killings for money. His ruthless reputation grows as he navigates gang politics.

Michael falls for Selvi, a girl from his town. She initially rejects him but later reciprocates his love, giving him hope for a different life. Selvi asks him to abandon his gangster life and relocate to Dubai to start anew.

An enemy from the same gang betrays Michael by turning into a witness for several murders. As a result, Michael ends up jailed for the crimes.

Michael escapes from prison with the help of his friends, continuing to elude authorities. He learns that Selvi is about to marry a man chosen by her parents, ending any hope for their life together.

Understanding that he must be on the run forever, Michael leaves Selvi and migrates to Dubai. There he begins rebuilding his power and rises to become a feared gangster.

Back in Dubai, Sabi dies soon after narrating the story to Ruby. His death marks a turning point as the tale of Michael moves into the present chapter.

Ruby and the Dubai police realize Michael would be over 50 and likely hiding in India. They focus their search on Chennai and send Michael's photo to the local police there.

Michael is revealed to live lavishly in Chennai under the alias Ashwin Thatha. He enjoys wealth and influence but remains without a life partner.

Ashwin falls for Ramya, a much younger woman whose father runs a retirement home. He misreads her friendly talks as romantic interest and hopes for a marriage.

At a ceremony, Ramya informs her father that she loves someone else and wants to marry him. She introduces a younger man, Shiva, who resembles Ashwin and is based in the US, leading to a long-distance relationship.

Heartbroken, Ashwin drinks and grows angrier. He kidnaps Shiva and hires a makeup artist to transform his appearance to resemble Shiva, hoping to win Ramya by masquerade.
