Vallavan Silambarasan is a carefree college student whose lighthearted approach to life and love draws him toward Swapna Nayanthara after a chance encounter at a temple. Swapna, a lecturer who is three years his senior, becomes the object of Vallavan’s affection, and he hatches a plan to win her over by becoming Pallan, an ugly duckling persona with buck teeth and thick glasses. Pallan, played by Silambarasan, wins Swapna’s heart more with the warmth of his heart than with his face, and she slowly falls for the person she thinks Pallan is. As Vallavan wanders the streets in a fog of confusion, he is drawn back into memories of his school life, a pivotal chapter where Geetha Reema Sen enters with a volatile, possessive presence that makes him fear losing his own sense of self. Geetha’s toxic embrace convinces him to end their relationship, but she refuses to let go, returning with a calculated plan to reclaim what she believes is hers. In a bid to win Swapna again, Vallavan re-enters Pallan’s skin and again attempts to convince her that their love transcends age, that true feeling can survive any numbers on a birth certificate. The world outside the central romance also features the character Suchitra, brought to life by Sandhya, whose presence helps ground some of the emotional turbulence.
