Ammu Aishwarya Lekshmi marries her neighbor Ravi Naveen Chandra, a police inspector who serves as the Circle Inspector of Police at the Maharanipalli station. The newlyweds arrive in Maharanipalli and, at first, appear to have a loving and supportive life together, with both of them sharing a quiet optimism about the future. Ammu feels seen and cared for, and Ravi seems to sweeten his rough edges with charm and moments of tenderness that promise a stable partnership.

But gradually the sparkle fades as Ravi grows harsh, passive-aggressive, and controlling. His behavior waxes and wanes, turning cruel and humiliating in front of colleagues and friends. A pivotal moment comes when he slaps Ammu over a perceived misstep while Ammu’s parents are visiting, an act that shocks those around them and reveals a pattern rather than an isolated incident. Ravi apologizes after the incident, yet his apology feels more like a shield to hide the underlying violence than a genuine change in him. Ammu confides in her mother Kalpana Maala Parvathi about the abuse, and Kalpana urges her to follow whatever she feels is right. Still, Ammu decides to endure the abuse, clinging to the hope that love might soften him enough to stop the cruelty, even as fear and embarrassment keep her from leaving.

When Ravi pushes for Ammu to conceive, Ammu resists the idea of bringing a child into this abusive environment. She discreetly takes contraceptive pills, but a troubling suspicion lingers that Ravi might be tampering with them. The pregnancy that follows deepens Ammu’s sense of entrapment and isolation, placing her in an even more precarious emotional state. She reaches out to Ravi’s colleagues Satya Satya Krishnan and Iqbal Prem Sagar, along with her neighbor Linny Anjali Ameer, hoping to find a path to safety. They accompany her to the office of DIG Reddy to file a report about the domestic violence, envisioning a formal remedy that could protect Ammu from further harm. Yet Ravi notices Ammu’s efforts before they can act, and he manipulates the situation to extract a denial from Ammu in front of Satya, convincing them that the abuse never happened. The effort stalls, but Ammu does not give up; she pledges to wait for a moment when she can make a decisive stand and compel Ravi to acknowledge his abuse, publicly and in a way that would allow her to walk away with dignity.

The narrative introduces Prabhu Das Bobby Simha, who returns on parole to Maharanipalli for his sister Geetha’s wedding. Prabhu’s presence rattles the station and stirs tensions: Geetha’s sisterly resentment toward him becomes a focal point, yet his status as a parolee also places pressure on Ravi’s grip over the station. Prabhu’s predicament—his parole being canceled after a rebellious act—creates a critical hinge for Ammu. She discovers that Ravi’s fate could be linked to Prabhu’s availability for his duties and meetings, and she, along with Satya, Linny, and Iqbal, quietly devise a plan that hinges on Prabhu’s cooperation. In a covert move, they hide Prabhu at Ammu’s home, hoping to protect him from Ravi’s harassment and to keep him connected to Geetha’s wedding celebrations. This gambit upends the Maharanipalli police station’s routines and fans out into a broader confrontation with Ravi’s authority, ultimately leading to Ravi’s suspension. Ammu takes a bold step by presenting her case directly to Reddy, now armed with a voice recording in which Ravi threatens and acknowledges his habitual abuse—evidence that shifts the balance and showcases Ravi’s coercive behavior to the people around him. Ravi is arrested, and the prospect of his downfall becomes tangible.

Linny returns Prabhu to the station, where he is briefly forgiven by Geetha but remains in custody, and the broader family tensions begin to crest toward resolution. Ammu and Linny discuss what lies ahead, accepting that difficult choices may lie ahead for Ammu, including the possibility of abortion, a decision Ammu says she is prepared to make if necessary. The film lingers on the uncertainty of Ammu’s path, underscoring that the ultimate choice rests with her alone.

In the final moments, the story does not reveal Ammu’s ultimate decision about the baby, but it closes on a note of quiet hope. Ammu returns home and shares a comforting biryani with the beggar Raghu Babu at the Maharanipalli bus station—the same beggar she had confided in earlier. Their exchange carries a meaningful, restrained wisdom: he did not push her to decide what to do; he simply honors her agency, reminding her that every choice, right or wrong, is hers to make.
