Kishanlal, a chauffeur, is released on 15 August 1955 after serving time for a fatal hit-and-run by his boss, crime lord Robert. He returns home to find Bharati sick with TB and their three sons starving, and when he pleads for help, Robert humiliates and disowns him. He escapes with a car loaded with smuggled gold bullion while Robert's goons pursue.

Bharati's despair deepens after the upheaval at home, and a suicide note reveals the depth of her shame. Kishanlal, trying to mislead Robert, drives the boys to Borivali National Park and places them at the foot of Gandhi's statue, leaving the eldest in charge as a ruse.

Kishanlal attempts to outrun the pursuing henchmen, but a fiery car crash ensues. Both the police and Robert's men believe Kishanlal and his sons are dead, leaving the family fractured.

The three brothers are separated and adopted by guardians: Amar is taken in by Hindu Police Superintendent Khanna; Raju is found by Muslim tailor Darji Ilahabadi; Anthony shelters at a Catholic church and is adopted by Father Gonsalves. Each grows up under a different religious influence, shaping their identities. The gap between Kishanlal and his former family widens as time passes.

Bharati is caught in a storm and is blinded by a falling branch. Ilahabadi rescues her and drops her at home, where she learns that her family is presumed dead and she cannot see Raju beside him. The tragedy deepens as she endures her new isolation.

Kishanlal escapes the crash and discovers Robert's gold, using it to become a wealthy crime lord in his own right. He returns to the now-empty Borivali park and is devastated to realize his family is gone, leaving him morally and emotionally hollow.

Twenty-two years pass. Bharati, now a flower seller, is hit by a car near a church; Akbar (Raju) is a popular Qawwali singer, and Amar is a police inspector who arrives to check the accident. All three donate blood to save Bharati's life, unaware they are related by blood and past.

While pursuing other criminals, Amar meets Lakshmi, who is being forced by her abusive stepmother and stepbrother to act as bait. He brings Lakshmi and her vulnerable grandmother to safety, offering protection and sanctuary. Their bond adds a thread of solidarity amid the chaos of the larger plot.

With the wealth gained from the gold, Kishanlal kidnaps Robert's infant daughter Jenny as revenge and raises her as his own niece. He destabilizes Robert's organization, forcing Robert to bend to Kishanlal's will and bringing in Ranjeet as an ally in the scheme.

Jenny returns from abroad, and Anthony falls head over heels for her during Easter Sunday services. Bharati is taken hostage by Robert, but her sight is miraculously restored at a festival hosted by Akbar, and she recognizes Akbar as Raju while he realizes Bharati is the blind woman from that night.

Akbar rescues Salma and Taiyyab from a house fire, and Taiyyab approves their marriage. In parallel, Amar and Akbar discover that they are half-brothers, and that Kishanlal and Bharati are their parents, deepening the family secret that binds them all.

Kishanlal is double-crossed by Zebisco, who abducts Jenny in exchange for his marriage to her. Father Gonsalves and Lakshmi witness the kidnapping, and Lakshmi herself is captured by Ranjeet. Robert murders Father Gonsalves and plants Kishanlal's Kali talisman as a clue to frame him.

The brothers infiltrate Robert's mansion; Akbar disguises himself as an elderly tailor and accompanies them to make last-minute alterations. Meanwhile, Amar and Anthony impersonate a one-man band and a Catholic priest to help Jenny escape and to undermine Robert's operation.

The brothers and their partners rally against Robert and his gang, while Kishanlal is briefly released so he can embrace his sons. Bharati and Kishanlal ultimately reaffirm their love, and the reunited family drives into the sunset, closing the long, intertwined saga.
