Vijay Verma is a lonely and dedicated cop. His only family is his younger brother Ajay, who studies abroad, and his two close friends, Shekhar and Seema. He even sacrifices his love for Seema to protect his friend Shekhar, unaware Seema herself is interested in him.

Vijay arrests the criminal mastermind Tony Briganza, but the case collapses when a corrupt lawyer presents a videotape to the court showing Tony at a different location. The court accepts the tape as credible evidence, leading to Tony's release and the birth of a dangerous rivalry with Vijay.

From that moment, Tony and Vijay become fierce enemies. Tony embarks on a string of crimes, often escaping due to clever alibis and cunning tricks while Vijay remains on his trail.

Vijay meets Sapna, a nightclub dancer, and the two grow close as his personal life begins to brighten. Their bond offers him solace amid the mounting danger of Tony's crimes.

While watching Seeta Aur Geeta with Sapna, Vijay realizes that two people can be in different places at the same time if they are twins. This insight foreshadows how Tony's actions could be hidden behind a twin's presence.

Vijay discovers that Tony has a mentally handicapped twin brother, Jojo, who covers for him during crimes. This twist explains how Tony keeps evading capture for so long.

Using the new information, Vijay helps secure Tony's arrest. Tony is put behind bars.

Tony escapes custody and hides at the home of Vijay’s friends, Shekhar and Seema. The couple becomes unwittingly drawn into the danger as they shelter him.

When Shekhar realizes that Tony and Jojo are wanted criminals, he tries to contact Vijay. Tony and Jojo discover this and kill Shekhar and Seema, leaving Vijay devastated.

Vijay tracks down Tony and kills him after a tense standoff. The Police Commissioner arrives, sympathizes with him, and welcomes him back to the force, signaling a troubled but hopeful resolution.
