1920: Evil Returns

In 1920, Jaidev Verma is a famous poet who lives a solitary life, cut off from conventional companionship. His longing for Smriti remains unfulfilled, even as their heartfelt letters create a quiet, enduring bond.

Their exchange of poems and letters blossoms into a deep affection that transcends distance. The correspondence becomes the lifeline that sustains Jaidev until a cruel turn of fate.

A letter arrives to reveal that Smriti has died in an accident, shattering Jaidev's world. His sister Karuna steps in as the steady presence trying to keep him grounded.

Karuna discovers an unconscious girl by a lake and brings her into their home. When she awakens, the girl remembers nothing but Jaidev's poems and is named Sangeeta.

Karuna grows wary of the stranger, and an undertaker warns that a malevolent spirit may be trapped inside her. The danger behind Sangeeta's memory loss becomes a looming possibility.

Sangeeta experiences terrifying phenomena, including vomiting iron nails and seeing ghosts in her room. These signs suggest a restless, vengeful presence has claimed her body.

As they seek medical help, the cemetery keeper explains the spirit is vengeful and must be guided back to the place where the tragedy began—Amar's residence in Shimla.

Jaidev believes Sangeeta is Smriti attempting to return to him and deepens his commitment to protect her. He clings to the hope that Smriti's essence can be freed if the truth is found.

To uncover the truth, Jaidev travels to Smriti's former address, aware that Karuna had already sought answers there. He learns that Karuna's inquiries hint at Amar's hidden past.

Karuna's letters reveal that Amar envied Jaidev's fame and assaulted Karuna, then masqueraded as Jaidev to abduct Smriti. Smriti confronted Amar in Shimla and killed him in self-defense, though the full truth remains buried.

The lingering spirit of Amar possesses Smriti, turning her into a vessel for vengeance and forcing Jaidev to confront a deadly truth. Their perilous exorcism plan begins to take shape.

The cemetery keeper urges moving Smriti to Amar's house in Shimla to guide the spirit back to its origin, but Smriti must be kept unaware of where she is being taken. The plan hinges on misdirection and timing.

During the perilous transport, the sacred cloth slips away from Smriti's face and the possessed woman awakens. In a brutal confrontation, the spirit murders everyone except Jaidev.

Jaidev discovers that Amar's corpse lies hidden in the ceiling and has been reanimated. He intervenes and sets the corpse ablaze, breaking the curse and freeing Smriti's body from the spirit's hold.

With the haunting ended, Jaidev and Smriti reaffirm their bond and marry, beginning a hopeful life together after fear, revelation, and redemption.
