What Happens in Zorawar: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Zorawar (2016) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Zorawar Singh, Yo Yo Honey Singh, is an Indian Army officer with the Rapid Task Force. After completing an assignment, he asks for a holiday, and his request is granted, giving him a chance to return home to his loving mother, Sheetal Singh, Achint Kaur. Back home, Sheetal shows him photos of potential brides, and Zorawar notices a girl named Jasleen, Parul Gulati, whom he had met previously at college. They share a date, during which Jasleen is surprised to learn that Zorawar is an army officer. She declines the proposal because she wants to finish her graduation and pursue a master’s degree abroad in film making. Zorawar respects her choice and returns to his family.

Upon his return, Sheetal reveals letters from her deceased father that carry clues about Zorawar’s biological father, Samar Singh. She explains that she and Samar had met in Canada while pursuing master’s degrees. Samar confides that he is the son of a dangerous gangster back home and came to Canada to escape gang violence. The two begin a romance, but Samar eventually departs after learning that his elder brother believes his father is ill. Soon after, Samar learns that his family has been massacred by a rival gang, a massacre triggered by a betrayal. Before Samar is killed, an unknown man, Amit Behl, comes to his aid, and together they defeat the rival gang members. Samar, along with this ally named Angad, relocates to Durban in South Africa, where he grows into a feared don.

Zorawar travels to Durban himself in search of information about his father but finds little. With the help of an Indian-origin police officer, Pavan Malhotra, he uncovers the truth that his father died years earlier in a gang war against a more powerful don named Sangram. In a twist, Tejpal Singh’s betrayal comes to light: the traitor used Zorawar to eliminate Samar, seeking vengeance for the death of his wife at Samar’s hands. In the climactic confrontation, Tejpal is killed by the father-son duo, and the family is finally reunited.
