Yamadonga

Raja, an orphan thief in Hyderabad, attracts Mahi, who falls for him. He manipulates her with sympathy and affection. She gives him a necklace, which he discards as worthless, yet it always seems to come back to him.

Twelve years later, Mahi's family treats her like a slave while enjoying the wealth left by her grandfather. Raja remains a conman but falls into debt with a lender named Dhanalakshmi and flees.

Mahi's family schemes to kill her so they can inherit her fortune. They discover that in Mahi's death, the money goes to charity, complicating their murderous plan.

Raja saves Mahi and treats her like the princess she has waited to be. He negotiates with Mahi's uncles, who misinterpret his plea as demanding a ransom of ₹45 crores.

The uncles hire a goon to kill Raja. After the attempted murder, Raja dies and reaches Yamaloka, the realm of Yama.

In Yamaloka, Yama plots revenge against Raja, recalling how Raja once mocked him when drunk. The celestial king believes Raja deserves punishment for his past arrogance.

Raja steals the Yamapasam, envisioning himself as the King of Hell. He promises festivals and a better realm, while Yama challenges him with a political-style contest for leadership.

Narada proposes an election to decide who should rule Hell. Both Yama and Raja agree, turning the struggle into a democratic race among celestial powers.

Yama and Chitragupta try to reclaim the Yamapasam but fail as Raja uses clever tactics, even accusing Yama of misconduct, sparking protests and straining Yama's marriage.

Chitragupta suggests summoning Rambha, Urvashi, and Menaka to sway voters. Yama is reluctant due to his wife's suspicions but reluctantly agrees to use the plan.

Raja's grandfather appears, revealing Raja's gift for dance and his ancestral support. After a dazzling display, the people rejoice and Raja wins the election, though Yama insults him in anger.

Raja tries to use the Yamapasam to make Yama behave like a human, but the plan backfires and Yama regains his powers. Raja flees back to Earth to confront Yama.

Back on Earth, Raja discovers how cruel Mahi's family has been since his death and resolves to protect her, vowing to fight for her life and happiness.

Raja storms the family, steals a whip to force them into servitude, and then gets drunk, once again insulting Yama, inviting a sharp celestial intervention.

Yama and Chitragupta travel to Bhulokam in disguise, separating Raja and Mahi. Dhanalakshmi appears demanding her dues, and Raja uses her veil to trap Yama, hinting at the Bhulokam vs Yamalokam dilemma in a final, sly jab at Yama.
