Witching & Bitching

Two men, José Fernández Cuesta and Antonio, pull off a tense pawn-shop robbery in Madrid. The plan carries risk from the outset, especially since Antonio worries that his son Sergio is along for the ride. The heist escalates quickly as alarms sound and gunfire erupts.

The robbery spirals into a deadly chase as gunfire echoes through the streets. The trio hijacks a taxi to flee north toward France, hoping to vanish into the countryside. The fugitives realize their escape will not be quiet or easy.

Silvia, José's ex and Sergio's mother, joins the pursuit, along with two police investigators, Jaime Pacheco and Alfonso Calvo. They press the fugitives toward Zugarramurdi, chasing the trail through towns and countryside. The stakes rise as law enforcement closes in.

The fugitives reach Zugarramurdi, a town steeped in legends, and encounter a coven of cannibal witches led by Graciana Barrenetxea. The coven's hunger and supernatural presence dampen the escape, with Maritxu watching Sergio with ritual intent. The atmosphere tightens as the threat becomes palpable.

The witches’ matriarch, Maritxu, fixates on Sergio with ritual hunger and schemes to cook him in an oven. The fugitives sense escape will require more than speed as the coven tightens its grip. The danger escalates as magical threats become imminent.

A perilous night unfolds as the group navigates the witches' labyrinth. They are eventually recaptured by the coven, and Silvia—along with Pacheco and Calvo—is dragged into the witches' lair. Silvia is transformed into a witch by a cruel tainted-toad ritual.

Eva, Graciana’s daughter, is drawn to Sergio and insists on helping. Her pleas bring Luismi into the fray, and he helps rescue Eva from being buried alive by her mother for betraying the coven. The group regroups with a dangerous plan to reach the ritual chamber.

Eva’s courage spurs them toward the ritual chamber where the coven’s power culminates. The race is a fragile hope of salvation for Sergio and the others. Every corner hides danger as the coven's power swells around them.

Inside the ritual chamber, Antonio, Manuel, Pacheco, and Calvo are bound to a pyre as Graciana’s goddess begins to rise. The ritual's grotesque power tests the fugitives' resolve to survive. The stakes are finally brought to a fever pitch as the ritual unfolds.

The monstrous fertility statue consumes Sergio, a moment that would crush ordinary resolve, yet he survives by somehow passing through the giant. José, emboldened by Eva’s courage, confronts the witches and helps spark the goddess’s downfall. In the ensuing chaos, the group escapes with Sergio, Eva, and the others, leaving the coven's power shattered.

A month passes and the denouement centers on a fragile new family. José and Eva are shown as a couple, building a life around Sergio, who begins to manifest his own powers. Silvia, Graciana, and Maritxu survive the ordeal, waiting for a moment when the past may rise again to claim its due.
