Leah moves in with her friend Katie into an apartment in Ridgewood, Queens as she starts her second year of college. The new living situation sets the stage for her social explorations and growing independence. It marks the beginning of a path that will intersect with a street level drug trade.

One night, out of marijuana, Leah approaches a group of young Latino men on her corner to buy drugs. They refuse and tell her they don’t sell to her. This rejection pushes her to seek alternatives and foreshadows the drug plot.

A few days later, Leah runs into Blue at a liquor convenience store and invites him into her apartment. Blue explains that while he is a dealer, he doesn’t do hard drugs. They end up having sex on her roof, marking the start of a complicated relationship.

Leah tells Blue that he could be making far more money about 60 dollars instead of the 20 he’s been selling for and invites him to a party thrown by her magazine internship. Blue agrees to raise his prices to the crowd at the event. The talk cements their business and personal alliance.

Emboldened by his early success, Blue asks for a kilo of cocaine from his supplier Lloyd and the two meet for breakfast at a restaurant. While there, a regular sets him up, and an undercover police officer arrests him. Leah quietly takes the kilo and leaves, trying to distance herself from the escalating crime.

Leah visits Blue in jail and learns he could face up to 20 years due to prior offenses. She decides to help him by claiming she still has the coke so there is no evidence against him. He asks her to return the coke to Lloyd, and when she approaches Lloyd outside, she recognizes the undercover cop and runs.

Leah finds a lawyer named George to help Blue and intends to use him to navigate the case. George is optimistic that they have a very good chance, suggesting a favorable path forward. She contemplates using the coke to pay his fee and fight the charges.

Leah approaches her boss Kelly and sells a third of the kilo. Katie and Blue’s friends help move the rest, while Blue believes George is representing him pro bono. As debts pile up, Lloyd pressures Leah for the remaining money.

Lloyd pressures Leah for the rest of the money, prompting Kelly to stage a fundraiser by throwing a rave with a cover charge. The party is a success, but Leah takes too many drugs and wakes up alone with no money.

George takes Leah to dinner and explains that the legal system is unequal, with white men who commit violent crimes more likely to avoid punishment than non violent PoC offenders like Blue. The conversation unsettles Leah and casts doubt on her trust in the justice process.

Back at Leah's apartment, George takes advantage of her intoxicated state and rapes her. The assault leaves Leah traumatized and withdrawn, marking a brutal turn in the storyline.

Blue shows up at Leah's place and says the lawyer has freed him, crediting Leah with saving his life. He goes down on one knee and proposes, but Leah does not give a clear answer; in the next scene they are shown kissing.

Walking down the street, Lloyd attacks Leah and Blue, demanding the money. Blue hits him with a broken bottle and then kills him with a wrench. Leah watches the violence unfold and realizes her actions led to this moment.

Blue is arrested and driven away while Leah watches him with a cold, conflicted gaze. The moment underscores the collapse of their relationship and the criminal consequences that followed.

The film closes with Leah seen in a classroom, a quiet image that hints at the lasting impact of the events on her life. It suggests she is trying to process what has happened and move forward in a damaged, watchful state.
