One year after becoming the sheriff of Boone, Nick Prescott moves to Dallas to be with his FBI agent fiancée Kate Jensen and her daughter Samantha. He leaves Boone behind but remains focused on Kate's safety and the dangerous Perez case. The relocation sets the stage for the looming confrontation.

Two key witnesses against Perez are killed by his men at the safe-house, leaving Kate Jensen and three other investigators as the only path to convict. The protection of these witnesses becomes critical to the case against Perez. Kate, with Maxwell among the protecting team, prepares for the trial.

Perez's men assault the safe-house, executing two of the agents in the chaos. Kate is gravely injured, while Lt. Doug Maxwell survives the attack. The assault confirms the extent of the threat and the need for urgent action.

Nick arrives at the hospital during the chaos and rescues Kate from an attempt on her life. He removes her to safety and begins planning their next steps. The rescue marks a turning point in their ongoing battle with Perez.

Maxwell and some of Perez's men kidnap Nick Prescott along with Kate’s boss, Marcia Tunney. The captors move quickly, taking them out of the ranch's safety and toward an uncertain location. Kate's network scrambles to confirm the identity of the betrayer.

Perez's men locate the ranch and depart to pursue Kate. Ramona, Perez's girlfriend, is left behind during the raid; Nick frees himself and, in a tense distraction, Tunney uses the moment to kill Ramona. The raid escalates the danger for everyone involved.

Nick tells Tunney that he will arrange help and races to the ranch to rescue Kate. He drives against the clock, navigating the escalating threat. The rescue mission culminates in a violent confrontation at the ranch.

Perez and his remaining men crash the ranch in a final assault. All of Perez's men are killed in the firefight. Kate fatally shoots Perez, ending his criminal empire’s hold on the town.

Maxwell chases Samantha into the woods while Nick gives chase to Maxwell. Samantha uses Taekwondo to break free from the danger, and Nick shoots Maxwell twice, ending his threat. The pursuit resolves the immediate danger to Kate and Samantha.

Kate recovers from her injuries and stays with Nick, reaffirming their bond. The couple faces the future together, continuing to protect their family. The ordeal closes with Kate and Nick committed to a safer life.
