Abhi rejects Shreya because he is still emotionally scarred by past events involving his friendship with Vasu and their shared love interest Maha. He begins narrating his flashback to explain why he cannot commit to a new relationship.

Maha dies in a car accident four years before the present timeline. Her death creates a lasting void in both Abhi and Vasu's lives, and they drift apart as they each cope with the loss in their own ways.

Abhi learns about Maha's death when he meets Ramya, Vasu's sister, at his restaurant in Milan. He realizes Vasu carried this grief alone for years and feels responsible for not being there for his friend.

Abhi pays Maggie's loan installments because her wedding planning business is in trouble due to Sai's canceled wedding. He steps in financially to help her, showing his changed attitude toward supporting his friends.

After the roadside fight where Vasu defends him from goons, Abhi opens up that he never knew Maha actually loved him. If he had known, he would have supported Vasu differently and not left him to grieve alone.
