In 1979, Venkata Chalapathy and his wife are lynched by the Rudravanam villagers who blame their eerie rituals for a string of deaths. As she dies, his wife curses the village with destruction over twelve years. Their son Bhairava is spared and sent to an orphanage by the village head, Harishchandra Prasad.

Bhairava is raised in an orphanage after the tragedy, separated from his father’s legacy. Harishchandra Prasad oversees the case and keeps Chalapathy’s line out of sight. The seed of revenge against the village is planted for the future.

In 1991, Anasuyamma returns to Rudravanam with her son Surya and her nephew to donate land for a school and attend the Goddess Modamamba festival. Surya meets Nandini, Harishchandra Prasad's daughter, and their romance begins though she hesitates. The festival scene sets the stage for hidden resentments.

During the festival, Siddhayya dies in the inner temple sanctum, triggering the priest to declare desecration and seal Rudravanam in eight directions for eight days. The lockdown rattles the villagers and limits movement. Surya and his family are allowed to leave, but he reenters to tend to Nandini’s convulsions.

Surya quietly reenters the quarantined village to deliver medicine to Nandini, showing resolve to protect her despite the ban. His actions put him directly at odds with superstition and the ritualistic plan. The family’s presence complicates the lockdown further.

Sudha attempts to elope with her lover Kumar, who is killed by a train in a tragic accident. Sudha herself is killed later by a swarm of bees, and her parents hide the death to avoid shame. The personal losses deepen the aura of doom around Rudravanam.

Milkman Suri and Surya’s cousin Parvathi die under mysterious circumstances, and Surya, aided by a Registered Medical Practitioner, uncovers a repeating pattern: each victim witnesses a death before their own, passing the curse to the next. An Aghora warns the villagers that the lockdown was a mistake. The pattern points to a larger, supernatural conspiracy.

Surya finds Sudha’s body and realizes Nandini is the next target. The looming threat pushes him to act and to protect her from an unseen fate. The revelation sets the stage for a direct confrontation with the culprits.

Surya learns Bhairava fled the orphanage after paralysing its founder and, with help from the Aghora, locates Bhairava’s hideout in a cave. He concludes that Bhairava is Kumar, Sudha’s lover, and that a village insider has aided him in the killings. The mystery tightens around the heart of Rudravanam.

Surya uncovers that Nandini is Chalapathy’s daughter, a truth Harishchandra Prasad had hidden. Chalapathy was an Atharvana Veda practitioner seeking to cure his paralysed wife, but the villagers misunderstood his rites. The real lineage reframes the revenge plot.

Confronting Nandini, Surya learns she, along with Bhairava, has been seeking revenge against the village. Nandini refuses to stop the ritual, but Surya reminds her of their shared love. He is bound by a talisman that prevents her from harming him.

In a reluctant farewell to violence, Surya stabs Nandini to break the cycle of death and end the curse. The village stops its ritual as Nandini is cremated, and Surya remains determined to protect Rudravanam from superstition.

After Nandini’s cremation, Surya urges the villagers to abandon superstitions and to transform Chalapathy’s house into a school, symbolizing renewal. Holding the talisman, his eyes glow with a supernatural light, hinting at a possible sequel to the tale.
