Under the Bed

After two years of living with Aunt Sarah in Florida, Neal Hausman returns home with his father, Terry. The family is in turmoil due to a tragic past, as Neal previously set fire to their family home, which resulted in the death of his mother.

Neal is greeted with a 'Welcome Home' party at his house, intended to help him feel reintroduced to his family. However, this event is marred by underlying tensions as Terry struggles to connect with Neal, who remains emotionally distant.

While at the party, neighbor Mr. Evans invites Neal to a sleepover with his sons, Richard and Robert. This invitation also allows Neal to reconnect with Cara, Mr. Evans’ daughter, whom he had a prior relationship with.

Neal reunites with his younger brother, Paulie, and discovers that Paulie has been going through Neal's boxes from before the fire. This confrontation ignites Terry's fury as he scolds both boys, abruptly ending the party.

Neal and Paulie ride their bikes to Melanie's Diner where Paulie admits to seeing the same creature that haunted Neal prior to his breakdown. This shared fear reveals the deeper emotional issues the brothers are grappling with.

Back at the Hausman home, a mysterious creature frightens Angie while she is doing laundry, yet she does not see it. This encounter emphasizes the pervasive threat that looms over the family.

Paulie falls asleep in school and experiences a nightmare that causes him to wake up screaming. Terry reacts by lecturing the boys about their poor behavior and irrational fears regarding sleep.

After the lecture, Terry locks the boys in their bedroom to prevent them from getting into trouble. This results in both Neal and Paulie attempting to evade the lurking creature by sleeping on a dresser.

Paulie shows Neal the urn of their mother's ashes he keeps hidden in the garage. Neal reveals his guilt and pain, believing their mother died because she listened to him during the fire incident.

The brothers decide to arm themselves with makeshift tools in order to confront the creature. They believe the monster feeds on their fear and plan to create a weapon that can counter its malevolence.

That night, the fog returns, and the creature emerges from under Neal's bed, launching a terrifying attack. Though the boys manage to escape, the horror continues as they face danger back at the Evans house.

During a frantic escape from the creature, Neal and Paulie are unable to protect their father, Terry, who is killed as the monster wreaks havoc in their home. The brothers are left to confront the reality of their loss.

Determined to save Paulie, Neal ties a rope around himself with the intention of entering the monster's realm. Guided by Angie’s support on the other end, he bravely ventures beneath the bed.

Inside the monster's domain, Neal successfully rescues Paulie, but the creature follows them back into reality. A climactic battle ensues in the garage, leading to a critical moment when Neal discovers the ashes of their mother can vanquish the beast.

After defeating the creature with their mother’s ashes, Neal and Paulie are finally reunited with their stepmother, Angie, and Cara. This moment symbolizes hope and healing as the family embraces once more, ready to move forward.
