Sakthivel Karthik Muthuraman is the only son of a wealthy landlord in a quiet village. He drifts through life with his uncle Kundalagesi Goundamani, shirking responsibilities and letting others pick up the slack—an attitude that irks his father and unsettles his family. One day, in the rhythm of small-town life, he meets Indhu Rambha, and love quickly takes root. After a few chance encounters, Indhu grows to care for him too, even if she starts out wary of a man who seems so carefree about life and duty.

Sakthi’s father reconnects with a longtime friend, and they hatch a plan to marry their children to secure family ties. The prospect does not sit well with Sakthi, who fears losing his freedom and also doubts whether his father truly understands his love for Indhu. He pleads with his father to reconsider, but the wedding plan presses on, and Sakthi finds himself unable to speak openly about the romance that fuels his resistance.

With Kundalagesi and his close ally Madhi Vivek, Sakthi schemes to spark trouble when the families meet. They pull a string of restless pranks and feints, hoping to derail the match. Yet each attempt backfires, heightening the tension rather than easing it. In a climactic moment of deception, Sakthi accuses the bride’s family of speaking ill about his own, sparking a furious argument that threatens to ruin everything.

The confrontation takes a shocking turn when Indhu, dressed as the bride, is revealed in the midst of the heated exchange. Realizing his grave mistake, Sakthi is shaken to his core as he confronts the hurt he has caused—especially when Indhu’s anger grows after he strikes her father during the chaos. Sakthi follows, determined to mend the rift. In the capital, Indhu is initially reluctant to see him, but over time she begins to understand the position he faced and the fear that drove his actions. She slowly forgives him, and the two start to envision a future together beyond the wedding plans that started all the trouble. Meanwhile, Sakthi’s life also intersects with other misadventures: he saves Latha from a desperate act, drawing the sympathetic line of Inspector Kalyanaraman Madhan Bob who misreads their relationship as that of lovers.

Parallel to this, Madhi’s own life takes a flashy turn. He is married to Savithri [Anju Prabhakar], a wealthy and proud businesswoman, while engaging in a risky fling with Lalitha, a prostitute [Vichitra]. Savithri spots the affair and, in a twist of bravado, Madhi tries to cover it up by presenting Lalitha as Sakthi’s wife, a ruse that only fans the flames of mistaken identities. Another man even mistakes Sakthi for his own son-in-law, adding to the comic chaos that threads through these relationships.

Gradually, the truth behind the misunderstandings starts to surface. Sakthi works to smooth things over with his father and with Indhu’s father [Jai Ganesh], and the plans for the wedding resume with renewed hope. A series of lighthearted, chaotic scenes unfolds as guests arrive, many mistakenly thinking Sakthi is a cheat. Yet the women involved—Indhu, Lalitha, and Savithri—speak up and reveal the real stories behind the masquerades. With honesty and a bit of perseverance, the couples begin to align once more.

In the end, all the confusion clears, and the families come to a quiet, hopeful understanding. Sakthi and Indhu reaffirm their love, the wedding draws near, and the community begins to celebrate the restored harmony. The film closes on a comforting note: love, patience, and the willingness to face one’s faults can unite a stubborn heart and heal a tangle of misunderstandings.
