In the vibrant universe of toys, Moxy, an adorable doll, dreams of exploring the 'Big World' and finding a child's love. Her aspirations clash with the skepticism of Ox, the mayor of Uglyville, who insists such dreams are unrealistic fairy tales.

Motivated by her longing for connection, Moxy decisively ventures into the hidden tunnel that leads to the outside world, joined by her quirky friends: Wage, Ugly Dog, Lucky Bat, and Babo. Together, they embrace the adventure that lies ahead, despite their fears.

The group arrives at the imposing Institute of Perfection, where they meet Lou, the arrogant leader of the Pretties. Lou dismisses their chances of success in the Gauntlet, a series of challenges designed to promote perfect dolls, but Moxy's optimism softens his heart just enough to grant them a chance.

As they train for the Gauntlet, the UglyDolls struggle with the challenges but find inspiration from Mandy, a Pretty tormented by her poor eyesight. Under Mandy's guidance, Moxy and her companions learn to mimic the Pretties’ polished appearance, albeit at the cost of their true identities.

During their training, Lou's Spy Girls capture Mayor Ox, forcing him to reveal a painful secret. He confesses that he once knew about the Big World and nearly succeeded in the Gauntlet, only to be betrayed by the Pretties and sent down the tunnel to a recycling center.

Ox reveals the grim truth about the recycling center at the end of the tunnel where misfit dolls are destroyed. This revelation inspires him to redirect the tunnel into a sanctuary for rejected toys, transforming despair into hope for Uglyville.

Moxy's spirits plummet as she grapples with her identity as a factory reject, feeling unworthy of a child's love. It takes a visit from Mandy, who encourages her to hold onto hope, to reignite Moxy’s belief in herself and her dreams.

Moxy and Mandy are captured by Lou's Spy Girls, leading to their confrontation with Lou at the Institute. The stakes escalate as they find themselves on the verge of being sent to the recycling center, prompting Ox to rally the town for a daring rescue operation.

The inhabitants of Uglyville, filled with determination, gather to stage a rescue mission for Moxy and Mandy. United under Ox's leadership, they march into the Gauntlet, prepared to demand entry against Lou's intentions to thwart them.

As the competition begins, Lou reveals his true colors by attempting to undermine Moxy and her friends. His plan backfires, showcasing his cowardice when he abandons his allies, leaving him isolated as the Uglies prove their worth.

In a moment of compassion, Moxy comforts a distraught robot baby after witnessing Lou's callous act of kicking it. This act of kindness resonates within the crowd, who start to prioritize joy and connection over striving for perfection.

Recognizing their heartfelt intentions, the Gauntlet system grants the Uglies passage, affirming that the purpose of a doll is to bring joy to a child. Lou, in stark contrast, faces defeat and is barred from leaving the factory.

In an act of desperation, Lou tries to sabotage the Uglies but inadvertently destroys the portal to the human world. Humiliated, he becomes the subject of ridicule, thrown into a washing machine by Nolan and Ugly Dog as punishment for his envy.

In the aftermath, the Uglies and Pretties join forces to create a new portal that embodies their new ideals, forming the City of Imperfection. Mayor Ox leads this new community, celebrating diversity and acceptance.

Moxy steps through the new portal, embraced by her perfect counterpart, Maizy, symbolizing the merging of imperfections and perfect connections. Their meeting conveys a powerful message about self-acceptance and the beauty of being unique.
