Truant Officer Donald

Huey, Dewey, and Louie are enjoying a swim in the lake while Donald Duck watches from the shore, convinced they are skipping school. He becomes determined to ensure they attend class instead of playing around. The scene establishes his role as a stern truancy enforcer.

Donald captures the nephews and drives them to the schoolhouse in his truant officer van. He lectures them on the importance of a good education and bringing them back to class. The boys pretend to comply, while plotting their escape.

The nephews pull out their pocket knives and manage to cut themselves out of the van. They sprint toward their clubhouse, hoping to evade Donald and keep their day lighthearted. Donald stays hot on their trail as they dash away.

Donald notices the back of the van is gone and pieces together that the boys have fled toward their clubhouse. He chases them full tilt, determined to recapture them. The pursuit heats up as the setting shifts from road to the clubhouse area.

In a stubborn attempt to trap them, Donald jacks up the clubhouse and plans to haul it away. The boys cleverly reverse the jack, sending the raised structure crashing down on him. He retreats, hurt but undeterred, and resumes the chase.

Undeterred, Donald tunnels out and decides, as a last resort, to smoke the boys out of their clubhouse. He starts a smoky ruse to force them out of cover. The trap raises the stakes for a final showdown.

Inside the clubhouse, Huey, Dewey, and Louie cook three chickens over the fire to create smoke and misdirection. They remain calm as Donald closes in and unknowingly walks into their setup. They prepare a counter-move while keeping watch.

When smoke starts pouring in, the boys improvise by loading the chickens into the bed and planning to escape through the roof. They delay the smoke as cover while plotting their exit strategy. It becomes a cat-and-mouse game with Donald trying to trap them.

Donald peeks into the clubhouse and is horrified to see that the 'smoked' plan backfired, with chickens occupying the bed instead of the boys. He realizes he has been tricked again. The moment marks a setback for his pursuit.

Huey disguises himself as an angel and is lowered into the clubhouse to stage an ambush. He kicks Donald in the rear, prompting the villain to stumble and reveal his disguise. The second kick causes the disguise to fall away, exposing him.

Realizing he has been duped, Donald loses his temper and attacks the nephews, beating them up and dragging them toward the school. Nevertheless, he keeps his authority, attempting to enforce their return to class. The scene sets up the final reversal.

As they reach the school, a sign reads 'NOTICE SCHOOL CLOSED FOR SUMMER HOLIDAYS', revealing the truancy was a misunderstanding. Donald's plan to deliver them to school is rendered pointless. The nephews' glare underscores his humiliation.

Overwhelmed by the embarrassment, Donald literally deflates himself to a tiny size. The nephews loom over him with a furious glare that seals his humiliation. The episode ends on a note of comic justice.
