Tom and Jerry find themselves in their usual back-and-forth clash, but the day takes a chaotic turn when they notice a baby crawling out of its pram. The infant’s elusive wandering turns each attempt to recover it into a new chase, and before long the baby slips into Spike’s doghouse. Spike Daws Butler watches as Tom mistakenly grabs him instead of the baby, sparking a tense and messy confrontation that leaves both sides rattled and the baby safe for the moment.

Frustrated, Tom carries the baby back to Jeanie Janet Waldo, who misreads the scene and delivers a sharp broom strike to Tom in a moment of alarm. After this slip, Tom’s attention drifts back to the ongoing wanderings of the infant, and the baby’s latest stunt leads them to a far more perilous setting: a 100-story construction site. The baby crawls along narrow steel beams while Tom and Jerry give chase, the danger heightening with every step they take across the precarious ledges. On the 50th floor, Jerry tries to save the baby by gripping its diaper, but the diaper lets go and falls away. Tom manages to catch the falling infant, only to have the diaper slip onto him in the ensuing scramble, leaving the baby unburdened as it crawls off again.

Believing the baby has slipped into a cement mixer on the 30th floor, Tom and Jerry dive into the machine’s vicinity, only to discover the infant instead playing with a hammer nearby. The tense scenes blur together as the race continues, and a panicked Jeanie once again calls for help, informing a police officer about the missing child. Tom and Jerry, exhausted but determined, return with the infant in their care.

As Jeanie retrieves the baby, the police officer Bill Thompson arrests Tom and Jerry, charging them with kidnapping. In the back of the police car, their explanations are dismissed at first—until the baby crawls past the vehicle, clearly showing that Jeanie had, once more, left the infant unattended.
