Toxic Love

Michela travels to Ostia with Cesare, Ciopper, and Enzo hoping for help with money. She buys heroin from Teresa, a prostitute, and Cesare discovers the deal. An argument erupts over trust and money, souring the group's dynamic from the start.

The trio manages to score heroin from a local pusher nicknamed Dartagnan. The high is brief and the underlying tension remains. They head back into the streets, knowing the next fix won’t solve their deeper problems.

Michela tests Teresa's heroin and discovers it's ripped off. She urges Cesare to demand the money back, but Teresa's pimp intercedes and protects her. The confrontation ends without a payout, widening tensions within the group.

The next day they board a train to Rome to reach a methadone clinic. In Rome they join a broader circle of addicts, including Donna, Debora, and Massimo. The journey signals a shift from petty theft to broader struggles with addiction.

In Rome they meet Donna, Debora, and Massimo, a recently released prisoner who talks Cesare into crime as a way to fund their habit. Massimo persuades Cesare to attempt robbing a local shop, but the plan goes wrong. The failure creates a ripple effect about loyalty and risk.

The failed robbery leaves Massimo with the money, and Cesare allows him to keep it so he can try scoring again later. The group fractures further as each pursues their own fix. Cesare's priority remains getting drugs, even as danger rises.

Enzo meets Mario, a pusher obsessed with a young addict named Loredana. He manipulates Mario to secure four heroin doses with the promise of sharing profits, but he ends up shooting all four doses himself. The act shows how desperation drives dangerous choices.

The next day they visit Patrizia, a local artist who shares her stash. They spend time in her studio using together, letting the drugs dull their fears and the emptiness of their lives. The intimate space intensifies their dependency.

Towards the end of the night Cesare and Michela split from the group and return to Ostia. They talk about the possibility of quitting and starting anew, imagining a life without addiction. To celebrate a fragile moment of renewal, they take one last hit of cocaine.

Michela overdoses during their last high, and Cesare rushes her to the hospital. Guilt and anxiety grip him as he waits for news. He returns to the beach to use up the remaining drugs before heading back to the emergency room.

A police car spots Cesare and orders him to stop; he refuses. The officers shoot him as he resists, ending his attempts to escape. The scene seals the tragedy of their addiction.

The film closes with flashbacks to Cesare, Enzo, and Michela as teenagers, showing how their initiation into drugs began long before the present events. The memories linger, underscoring the choices that led to their downfall.
