As Sara’s addiction deepens, her obsession with Toad Road, a legendary street in York, Pennsylvania, intensifies. Local legends speak of seven gates on this road, each portending disorientation and a loss of identity for those who dare to pass through them. Captivated by these tales, Sara persuades James to accompany her on a fateful pilgrimage to Toad Road, where the two indulge in acid, leading to their tragic separation. James, overwhelmed by the experience, loses consciousness and awakens six months later, only to discover that life has moved on, leaving him behind.

Sara’s mysterious disappearance has transformed James into a person of interest in the ongoing investigation. As he wrestles with the heavy burden of guilt, his friends have long abandoned him, leaving him homeless and isolated.
