Three Against the World

Charlie Chan is entrusted by his godfather Boss Ng to guard a priceless copy of the Koran during its transport for an exhibit. Ng hopes the exhibit will help save his insurance company from a scheme by Sung Kam-wing. Sung counters by hiring Cheuk Fei-fan to stage a theft, setting the plot in motion.

A party at Sung's mansion becomes a stage for competing ambitions. The players reveal their intent to control the Koran through a show hand, and Cheuk wins through trickery but is dissatisfied. Ma Wan-lung challenges Cheuk to a Mexican stand-off, leading to a tense exchange with Charlie subtly manipulating the situation.

The next day, Charlie splits Ng's guards into five groups to ferry the Koran to the exhibit, with Charlie himself keeping the Koran close to him alongside rookie Siu-ming. The plan is designed to prevent a single point of failure from jeopardizing the mission. Tension builds as everyone moves toward the display.

On the move, Charlie stops at a bathhouse to bathe and refresh. He is attacked by Double Trouble, two thugs hired by Sung, but Charlie easily dispatches them and continues toward the exhibit. The assault tests his readiness and resolve under pressure.

Five groups carrying metal cases converge on the exhibit, and Charlie reveals the Koran has been placed inside one of the cases. All guards reach the venue safely, and the display proceeds as planned. The stage is set for a high-stakes display—and potential theft.

Ma Wan-lung and his girlfriend attempt to steal the Koran by disguising themselves as professionals. A real doctor and nurse arrive and evacuate the exhibit, foiling the immediate theft. Charlie is reminded that the Koran remains a coveted prize with dangerous players pursuing it.

After the failed theft, Cheuk and his younger daughter guide the plot toward counterfeiting. Charlie learns that Ka Yik-chan, a gold counterfeiter, has been hired to produce a fake Koran. This counterfeit plan intensifies the race to secure the true artifact.

A beautiful woman (Rosamund Kwan) returns to Charlie later at a bar and gets drunk, stumbling into his car before he drives her back to her hotel. He recalls having met her previously on a train, adding a personal layer to the entanglement surrounding the Koran.

Charlie visits Ka Yik-chan and pays him to craft another fake Koran. He uses this counterfeit in a planned swap at the exhibit while revising the security scheme to allow the real Koran to descend and be hidden after closing. The scheme aims to outmaneuver both rivals and the exhibit's guards.

Ma breaks into the exhibit and steals the fake Koran on display. In the chaos, Cheuk and his elder daughter seize Ng and demand Charlie hand over the real Koran. Distrustful of Charlie, Ng reluctantly delivers what he believes is the real artifact.

The beautiful woman visits Ng, claiming the Koran should be returned to Charlie, but she discards it as Charlie is absent. Ng swaps his Koran with hers, thinking it is the real artifact. Charlie later discovers that Cheuk is her father, a revelation that ties more threads into the conspiracy.

Cheuk receives payment from Sung and leaves with his daughters. Ma attempts to steal the Koran again, but Cheuk's elder daughter stops him. Sung's henchmen arrive, and a brutal confrontation erupts at a hotel as Charlie, Ma, and Cheuk clash over the Koran.

Cheuk proposes a dramatic three-way duel, but the fighters end up with a hand-to-hand clash that forces Charlie and Ma to team up against Cheuk. Cheuk is defeated and escapes with his daughters, leaving behind a fake Koran. The true artifact remains unresolved until a later delivery proves definitive.

A candy-selling street vendor, entrusted by Cheuk's elder daughter, delivers the Koran to Charlie, resolving the central quest. The real artifact has been recovered by a trusted ally, signaling the end of the immediate conflict. Charlie closes the case with the Koran now safely in his possession.
