The Wild Goose Lake

Zhou Zenong meets Liu Aiai at a train station, expecting to see his wife Shujun, but Liu Aiai has been sent on behalf of Huahua. Zhou introduces himself as the leader of a small gang involved in motorbike theft, setting the scene for his life of crime. This meeting initiates the connection that will influence later events.

Zhou's subordinate Red Hair shoots a rival in the leg during a territorial dispute, escalating tensions between gangs. The rival gang seeks revenge, setting a trap that results in Red Hair's decapitation and Zhou being shot twice, marking a significant escalation in gang violence. Zhou's injuries and Red Hair's death deepen his troubles.

While attempting to escape in the rain, Zhou accidentally shoots and kills a policeman, mistaking him for a rival gang member. This act increases police suspicion and makes Zhou a wanted man, complicating his efforts to stay hidden.

The police, led by Captain Liu, deduce Zhou will hide in Wild Goose Lake, a lawless area in Wuhan. They organize a large manhunt and place Shujun under surveillance, intensifying the pressure on Zhou to stay hidden or escape.

Huahua, a pimp at Wild Goose Lake, seeks Zhou's wife Shujin to leave together, while Liu Aiai acts as a middle person, entertaining customers. Liu Aiai is unaware of police surveillance operations, making her a potential risk for Zhou.

The police offer a 300,000 yuan reward for Zhou, dead or alive. Zhou learns that Liu might be able to arrange for his wife to betray him so his family can claim the bounty, while Huahua looks to claim the reward himself.

Zhou is cornered by a rival gang inside an apartment, where he is stabbed by gang members who had previously shot him. Despite injuries, Zhou fights back, killing his assailants and escaping, turning the tide temporarily.

The rival gang's gunfire draws police attention, and they begin actively searching the streets for Zhou. During the chaos, a passerby is killed, highlighting the danger and violence circling Zhou.

Fearing Zhou suspects her betrayal, Liu tries to run away. She encounters Yan, who recognizes her as a prostitute working for Huahua; Yan forces Liu into sex, and Zhou intervenes by killing Yan to save her.

Zhou and Liu Aiai walk to a noodle shop, but police arrive and trap Zhou inside. He fights his way out but is eventually cornered by the lake and shot multiple times, leading to his death from his injuries.

Liu Aiai collects the reward money and is driven by Captain Liu to the bank. As she leaves with the cash, she is observed meeting Zhou's wife Shujun, indicating involvement in the aftermath of Zhou's death.
