The Wild Goose Lake

The film opens with a tense meeting at a train station between Zhou Zenong and Liu Aiai. Zhou has arrived thinking he will reunite with his wife, Yang Shujun, only to find Liu, who has been sent by his associate Huahua.

Zhou, the leader of a small gang, recounts a violent incident involving one of his members, Red Hair. During a turf dispute, Red Hair shot a rival gang member, igniting a deadly chain reaction of vengeance.

As a direct consequence of the earlier conflict, Red Hair is brutally killed in a trap set by the rival gang. Zhou is also injured during this violent showdown, increasing the stakes for everyone involved.

In the chaos wrought by the gang violence, Zhou inadvertently causes the death of a police officer. This tragic mistake further complicates his situation as the police mobilize to track him down.

The police, led by Captain Liu, assume that Zhou will seek refuge in the dangerous Wild Goose Lake area. They quickly establish an extensive manhunt, intensifying the pressure on Zhou.

Amidst his desperate situation, Zhou reaches out to Huahua, a figure entrenched in the criminal underworld of Wild Goose Lake. He hopes to find a way to reunite with Shujun while eluding capture.

As the police intensify their hunt, they announce a bounty of 300,000 yuan for Zhou's capture, dead or alive. This announcement adds urgency not only for Zhou but also for rival factions eager to claim the reward.

Zhou devises a plan to have Liu orchestrate an arrangement for Shujun to turn him in so that she can claim the bounty. Meanwhile, Huahua's own motivations complicate the dynamics of this precarious situation.

The rival gang gains momentum, intent on extracting their vengeance while simultaneously aiming to cash in on the bounty for Zhou. This creates a high-stakes game of survival for Zhou and his allies.

In a critical moment, Zhou finds himself cornered by the rival gang and must fight back for survival. He manages to kill his attackers, showcasing his resourcefulness in a desperate situation.

The sound of gunfire from Zhou's altercation with the rival gang prompts an immediate police response. The squad intensifies their search efforts, determined to locate Zhou amid the chaos.

During the turmoil, Liu Aiai faces suspicion from Zhou and attempts to distance herself from him. However, she is assaulted by a man named Yan, and Zhou arrives just in time to save her, killing Yan in the process.

Zhou and Liu share a brief respite at a noodle shop, yet their moment of calm is short-lived. The police soon arrive, forcing Zhou into a terrifying shootout as he fights for his and Liu's escape.

Ultimately, Zhou finds himself outgunned at the lake and succumbs to his injuries. This marks the culmination of his desperate fight for survival against insurmountable odds.

In the closing scene, Liu collects the bounty for Zhou and is driven by Captain Liu to the bank. As she exits, viewers witness a disconcerting meeting with Shujun, underscoring the bitter consequences of their intertwined fates.
