The Thicket

Cut-Throat Bill arrives in town on the morning the Parker siblings lose their father to smallpox. Their grandfather Caleb reveals a new will, naming 700 acres of land in Montana for Jack and Lula after his death. The combined losses set the siblings on a perilous journey toward an unknown future.

A tense stand-off unfolds at the ferry as Caleb confronts Bill and her gang. Caleb shoots Bill, though she is barely wounded, and Bill retaliates by murdering Caleb. The ferry becomes the stage for the collapse of their plans.

Bill abducts Lula, briefly taking her away after the ferry confrontation. Jack is left for dead in the chaotic scene, setting him on a quest to rescue his sister. The immediate danger to Lula begins the central pursuit.

Bill and her gang rob a dry-goods store in Sylvester. Lula regains consciousness and attempts to warn the owner's son, but the shootout leaves both store owner and his son dead. Lula is recaptured as gunfire erupts and the gang escapes.

Jack arrives in Sylvester during the mob’s chaotic lynching of an abandoned gang member. In the frenzy, another girl is dragged into a wagon and kidnapped, and Jack is beaten into unconsciousness. The town spirals further into lawlessness.

Jones and Eustace finish their latest bounty and are short-changed by payment from the Alderman. Jack hires the duo to help rescue Lula in exchange for a huge bounty on Bill, while the Alderman secretly hires Simon and Malachi to kill Jones. Alliances form and shift as the chase tightens.

Jack’s attempt to rescue his old crush Jimmy Sue from Hector ends in a fight, but they escape. Bill’s gang heads toward the Thicket, their destined hideout, as Lula’s fate remains uncertain. The pursuit broadens into a wider hunt across the region.

Jones and Eustace capture a gang member and torture him for information about Bill’s whereabouts. The information proves elusive, and Jones laments that the bounty isn’t worth the trouble. Meanwhile, Jack continues to press for leads.

Lula bumps into Simon and Malachi, who promise to protect her until the bounty on Jones’s head is collected. Bill recaptures Lula and kills Simon, leaving Malachi distraught and seeking vengeance for his friend's death.

Jack and Jimmy track down Jones and Eustace and offer them the deed to their grandfather’s land to secure Lula’s rescue. They join forces to ambush Bill’s gang, but Jones stays out of the line of fire to protect Lula. Malachi joins the group seeking revenge for Simon.

Bill reaches a church and burns it down. The surviving priest reveals Bill’s traumatic history, including abandonment and abuse, explaining how her past fuels her current violence. The group gathers clues about her motives as they press on.

As they near the Thicket, Jones reveals he was sold to a freak show as a child because of his dwarfism, adding another layer to the scars carried by the group. The revelation deepens their resolve to stop Bill.

Upon reaching the Thicket, Malachi is killed by a gang member outside a bathroom, and Jimmy shoots the killer. In the ensuing struggle, Jimmy is fatally stabbed by another gang member. The losses hit the core group hard as they push forward.

Bill takes Lula hostage in the climactic battle, but Lula runs out of bullets and fights back. Jones finishes Bill with a long-range shot. Eustace is mortally wounded and Jack dies from his wounds, and Lula decapitates Bill to present the head to the sheriff.

With Bill defeated, the sheriff confirms the bounty increase and Jones and Lula receive a huge reward. Lula buries her brother and grandfather, and she and Jones decide to settle down as a family, closing the chapter on a brutal ordeal.
