The Shadow of the Eagle

Colonel Nathan B. 'Skipper' Gregory, a former WWI ace, owns a travelling carnival whose future is bleak. Craig McCoy keeps the show afloat with his skill as a stunt pilot, while Jean Gregory works with him as a wing walker and parachutist. The carnival's fortunes hang by a thread as they struggle to attract crowds.

A mysterious pilot known as the Eagle begins sabotaging Evans Aero Co. by skywriting the ominous date May 23, 1918. The taunts set off fear and place Gregory at the center of suspicion since he bears a grudge against the company. The crew wonders if the Eagle is among them.

That suspicion grows because Gregory resembles the Eagle and has motive to sabotage the company that stole his radio-piloted aircraft plans. Authorities press him as a possible suspect even as his daughter and friends defend him. The pressure weighs on Gregory as he tries to stay out of sight.

Craig McCoy's skywriting skill and a payment from an anonymous source draw attention to him as a potential conduit for the Eagle's scheme. He suspects a larger conspiracy rather than a single pilot and begins digging for the truth. His resolve grows as clues start to converge.

Craig identifies Mr. Green, a director at Evans Aero Co., who flew in the Eagle's squadron and may have stolen Gregory's plans. He confronts Green, who escapes and enlists two accomplices, Tim Moore and Boyle, to help cover his tracks. The conspiracy widens beyond a lone saboteur.

Green's escape accelerates the pursuit as he teams up with Tim Moore and Boyle to mask the plot's scope. Craig grabs the stolen plans and darts back to the carnival to reveal them to Jean. The growing threat now ties the carnival to corporate crime and espionage.

The wheelchair-bound Colonel Gregory tries to stay out of sight and away from authorities who suspect him. He guards his own guilt or innocence while the investigation presses in. The tension mounts as his disappearance remains a possibility.

Someone steals Craig's aircraft and a subsequent attempt to burn down the carnival raises the stakes for everyone. Jean and Craig must fend off attackers while continuing to pursue the Eagle. The danger becomes personal as lives hang in the balance.

Craig and Jean learn that Gregory is missing and has been captured by the Eagle's henchmen. They resolve to find him and prove his innocence. The case grows more dangerous as the Eagle's network tightens its grip.

Jean and Craig fight their way through gang members and danger as they chase the true Eagle across various locations tied to the case. Their perseverance keeps them alive and brings them closer to the truth. They rely on each other to survive the escalating threats.

Craig enlists the carnival's midget, strongman, and ventriloquist to aid in the hunt. The unlikely team brings humor and daring to the pursuit while providing essential aid. Together they close in on the villain and widen the net.

Craig unmasks Mr. Green as the mastermind behind the Eagle's plot and the thefts of Gregory's plans. Green's past ties to the squadron are revealed as the scheme unravels. The unmasking shifts the balance of the investigation in favor of Gregory and his daughter.

With Green exposed, the threat collapses and Gregory's innocence is proven. The Carnival and Evans Aero Co. begin to recover from the ordeal, and Jean and Craig's partnership is solidified. Peace returns as the show goes on and the Eagle is defeated.
