The Ruins

Four friends, Amy, Stacey, Jeff, and Eric, are enjoying a relaxing vacation at a Cancún resort. Their time by the pool is filled with laughter and sunshine, setting a joyful tone for their getaway.

The relaxation continues until Amy realizes that one of her earrings is missing. This small incident disrupts their fun and leads to a surprising encounter with a stranger named Mathias.

Mathias retrieves the earring from the bottom of the pool and returns it to Amy. Grateful for his help, Amy and Stacey invite him to join them for drinks, sparking a new connection.

During their conversation, Mathias mentions that his brother and sister-in-law are excavating nearby ruins. Excited by the prospect of adventure, the group quickly agrees to visit the archaeological site.

The following morning, the group is left waiting when their planned ride to the ruins fails to arrive. They ultimately decide to pay a local truck driver, Patricio, to take them into the jungle.

As they drive deeper into the jungle, the friends find an abandoned truck belonging to Mathias' brother. Mathias appears uneasy about the situation but chooses to continue their journey towards the ruins.

Upon arriving at the ancient ruins, the group is awestruck until their excitement turns to terror when they are confronted by armed locals. An older man threatens them, which escalates quickly into violence.

In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, Dimitri offers his camera as a peace offering. However, he is brutally shot with an arrow instead, marking the beginning of their horrific ordeal.

In a desperate attempt to find safety, the group flees to the top of the ruins, where Mathias is injured after a fall while investigating a mysterious ringing cell phone. Stacey, attempting to help him, also injures herself.

As the group tends to Mathias, tensions among the friends rise. Amy confronts their captors, inadvertently worsening their dire situation and leading to the tragic death of a young boy.

In a shocking turn of events, Stacey discovers that vines are growing into her leg from her earlier injury. The group realizes they are facing a sinister and sentient plant that threatens their lives.

The friends are forced to engage in traumatic and painful measures to rid themselves of the encroaching vines. This ordeal causes chaos within the group, leading to accusations and fracturing their trust.

As their situation grows increasingly bleak, Jeff comes up with a plan of escape. Emphasizing the importance of Amy's safety, he sacrifices himself, allowing her to flee from the chaos.

Amy manages to escape in a Jeep, speeding away from the ruins and the horrific ordeal. As she drives into the unknown, the sinister fate of her friends and the dark presence of the plants loom in her mind.

In the wake of their terrifying experience, Dimitri's friends unknowingly arrive at the ruins. Oblivious to the horrors that unfolded, they step into a dangerous legacy that history has left behind.
