Four isolated astronauts in the lunar mining base Ark endure a fierce meteor storm. While surveying the damage caused by the meteors, Ava Cameron discovers spores contained in a fragment and brings them back to the base for study, setting off a chain of chilling consequences.
The spores prove capable of rapid growth, and Ava becomes contaminated in the process. Soon after, she exhibits signs of a quickly advancing pregnancy, and within hours she goes into labor.
