Read the complete plot breakdown of The November Man (2014), including all key story events, major twists, and the ending explained in detail. Discover what really happened—and what it all means.

Veteran CIA officer Peter Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) decides to leave the agency behind in 2008 after witnessing the tragic consequences of a mission gone wrong. His partner and protégé David Mason (Luke Bracey) defied Devereaux’s orders during a crucial operation intended to protect a US Ambassador in Montenegro, which resulted in the accidental death of a child. Seeking peace, Devereaux retreats to Switzerland and opens a quaint coffee shop.

However, Devereaux’s tranquility is disrupted when his former boss, John Hanley (Bill Smitrovich), approaches him with a critical request: to aid in the extraction of a deep cover CIA operative from Russia, Natalia Ulanova (Mediha Musliovic). Natalia is undercover as the aide to Arkady Fedorov, a former Russian Army General and presidential candidate, and possesses crucial knowledge tying him to various war crimes. Hanley reveals that unless Natalia is brought in, she will not disclose the identity of a significant witness. Additionally, Devereaux learns that Fedorov’s personal assassin, Alexa, has been ordered to eliminate anyone associated with Fedorov who knows about his dark past.

Complications arise when it becomes evident that Mason’s own team, spearheaded by CIA station chief Perry Weinstein (Will Patton), is also tasked with extracting Natalia without realizing Hanley’s involvement. As Natalia skillfully breaks into Fedorov’s safe and secures several incriminating photographs, she finds herself on the run after Fedorov discovers her theft. Just as she prepares to reach Mason’s team, the FSB begins to pursue her, leading to a dramatic rescue by Devereaux.

Their reunion is short-lived, as Natalia gives Devereaux a name—Mira Filipova—before chaos ensues. Believing that Natalia might be in Russian captivity, Mason’s team receives the controversial order to terminate her, leading to a tragic misunderstanding that results in her death at Mason’s hands, just as she passes vital evidence to Devereaux.

Amidst this betrayal, Alice Fournier (Olga Kurylenko), a New York Times reporter, pursues the story of Fedorov’s alleged war crimes with determination. Meanwhile, Devereaux understands the depth of the conspiracy, realizing that Alice is connected to Mira Filipova, who had suffered at Fedorov’s hands during the 2nd Chechen War.

As the plot thickens, Devereaux finds himself in an escalating battle against both CIA operatives and criminal forces as he races to protect Alice, who is still haunted by her past. In a tense confrontation, Peter plays Russian Roulette with Fedorov, attempting to elicit a confession about the CIA’s collusion in the war crimes.

As Devereaux grapples with the complexities of betrayal and loyalty, Mason becomes entangled in a treacherous game orchestrated by Hanley, who harbors his own covert motivations. The stakes rise even higher when Peter realizes that his daughter Lucy has been kidnapped, propelling him to save her before it’s too late.

Confrontations lead to revelations, and after a series of explosive events, Devereaux, Mason, and Alice find themselves united against a common enemy. In a thrilling climax, Alice’s bold actions reveal Fedorov’s misdeeds to the world, culminating in a shocking end for the warlord. As the dust settles, Devereaux, with his daughter and a renewed sense of justice, prepares for a future untainted by the shadows of his past.
