The New Adventures of the Elusive Avengers

A band of young partisans—Valerka, Yashka, Danka and Kosanka—join the Red Army and vow to strike against Baron Wrangel's White Guards. They are assigned a high-stakes mission to locate and steal a map of Crimea's fortifications. The map’s importance is tied to a planned Red Army assault, setting the stage for a dangerous covert operation.

They intercept an airplane carrying a letter to the Baron. The letter reveals that Colonel Kudasov holds the Crimea fortifications map. This intelligence confirms the mission’s urgency and the critical nature of obtaining the map.

The four enter Yalta aboard a fishing boat, blending in with civilians. Danka pretends to be a shoe-cleaner while Valerka poses as a young monarchist nobleman. Their disguises help them slip past local guards as they begin the covert operation.

The Red agent they were supposed to meet is arrested by Kudasov and dies while attempting to escape. The Avengers are left to improvise and rely on their own wits without their initial contact. The mission becomes harder, but their resolve deepens as they press on.

Kosanka encounters Buba Kastorsky, a popular singer and dancer who helped them in their earlier adventure. Buba explains that a White officer likely knows the combination to Kudasov's safe. This intel points the team toward a dangerous but promising lead.

Valerka visits a cabaret frequented by Captain Ovechkin and befriends him. The captain’s proximity to the operation offers a potential route to the safe’s combination. The uneasy alliance foreshadows risky exchanges ahead.

Danka is arrested when Ataman Burnash arrives in the city and recognizes him. The arrest disrupts their plan and puts the group under even greater pressure. The Avengers must protect their ally while continuing the mission.

Yashka meets the local Gypsies and persuades them to aid in freeing Danka. The Gypsies’ involvement adds new resources and flexibility to the operation. Their support broadens the team’s capabilities in the pursuit of the map.

Captain Ovechkin recognizes Valerka and taunts him, revealing the combination to Kudasov's safe. Valerka detonates a pool-ball filled with explosives to break free and slip away. He escapes with the knowledge that could unlock the map.

Valerka races to the Counterintelligence Service Headquarters, infiltrates it and steals the map from Kudasov’s circle. The act demonstrates bold, calculated stealth under extreme pressure. The map becomes the crucial asset for the Reds’ planned assault.

Soldiers close in as Valerka has the map, but Danka, Yashka and Kosanka create a distraction to shield his escape. Their coordinated effort buys him precious seconds to slip away with the prize. The trio’s teamwork proves essential to the mission’s survival.

The Avengers and Buba attempt to flee the city by boat, but a White officer shoots Buba during the escape. The loss marks a grim reminder of war’s costs. Despite the tragedy, Valerka carries the map toward Red Army lines.

With the map in their possession, the Avengers’ audacious mission contributes to the Red Army’s strategic planning for Crimea. They have endured brutal danger and formed a lasting bond as a team of youngsters who became legends. The mission’s success comes with sacrifice, shaping their ongoing fight against the White Guards.
