The Mummy

High priest Imhotep engages in a forbidden affair with Anck-su-Namun, the mistress of Pharaoh Seti, breaking strict royal rules. Their secret love leads them down a path of betrayal and murder.

Upon discovering the affair, Pharaoh Seti is murdered by Imhotep and Anck-su-Namun. As the guards close in, Imhotep is saved by his priests while Anck-su-Namun takes her own life to be resurrected.

Imhotep and his priests attempt to resurrect Anck-su-Namun in Hamunaptra. Their ritual is thwarted by Seti's guards, and in retaliation, Imhotep faces a horrific curse for his actions.

Imhotep receives the curse of Hom Dai, buried alive with flesh-eating scarabs and his tongue cut out. This curse gives him immortality, but seals him away beneath a statue of Anubis.

For centuries, Imhotep is imprisoned under high security by the Medjai, the descendants of Seti's guards. They vow to prevent his resurrection and the destruction he could unleash.

In 1923, Rick O'Connell leads a group of French Foreign Legion soldiers in a last stand against the Medjai in Hamunaptra. Outnumbered and overwhelmed, he is left to die in the desert after a harrowing escape.

In 1926, librarian Evelyn Carnahan receives a map allegedly pointing to Hamunaptra from her brother, Jonathan. They seek to unveil the treasures located in the legendary city.

Evelyn negotiates the release of Rick O'Connell from prison in exchange for revealing the location of Hamunaptra. This sets off a chain of events leading them to the lost city.

The team boards a ship headed for Hamunaptra, but they face an attack from Medjai soldiers, leading to a chaotic moment where they lose the map and the ship goes up in flames.

Upon reaching Hamunaptra, Evelyn and her group split from the other treasure hunters. Both groups unwittingly trigger ancient traps and encounter deadly forces guarding the city.

Evelyn inadvertently awakens Imhotep by reading from the Book of the Dead. This act unleashes plagues upon the land, starting with a swarm of locusts that drives everyone into hiding.

As Imhotep regains his strength, he unleashes further plagues: blood turns to water, a violent hailstorm devastates Cairo, and the city is plunged into chaos as he hunts down those connected to the sacred books.

The climactic showdown occurs in Hamunaptra as Rick and Jonathan confront Imhotep, who has resurrected Anck-su-Namun. They seek to use the Book of Amun-Ra to defeat him once and for all.

Evelyn recites a counter-curse that strips Imhotep of his immortality. Rick delivers a fatal blow as Imhotep begins to decompose, vanishing from the world for good and vowing revenge.

As the ancient city collapses into the sand, Rick, Evelyn, and Jonathan race to escape with newfound treasure. They narrowly avoid being trapped, while Beni meets his fate among the scarabs.
