The Love of Jeanne Ney

During the Russian Revolution in Crimea, Khalibiev sells André Ney a list of alleged Bolshevik agents to finance his decadent lifestyle. The sale introduces dangerous leverage that could topple players on both sides. Ney pockets the list, setting in motion a web of intrigue and risk.

Two intruders—André Labov and a Bolshevik comrade—arrive at Ney's office demanding the list. Ney shoots at them and is killed in return, a fatal blow that signals the collapse of his power. The murder occurs as the city teeters on the edge of revolutionary upheaval.

In Paris, Jeanne takes a job as secretary at her uncle Raymond's detective agency. She strives to rebuild her life while shadowed by the weight of recent losses. The new routine introduces familiar faces who will entangle her further.

Khalibiev follows Jeanne to Paris and begins a dangerous plot against Raymond’s family. He plans to seduce Gabrielle, Raymond’s blind daughter, marry her, and murder her to steal the family's money. His ruthlessness marks a dark new phase of the scheme.

Margot, a young bar worker, overhears Khalibiev's plan and warns Gabrielle and Raymond. Her warning highlights the growing danger surrounding the family. The warning comes too late to prevent some of Khalibiev's machinations, but it creates awareness of the threat.
