Stage actress Marianne abandons her career to wed the affluent Marquis Antoine de Fontaines, who presents her with an exquisite diamond necklace. The jewel draws the attention of a criminal gang, and Jean, one of the thieves, is tasked with seducing Marianne to steal it. Complications arise when Marianne realizes Jean is the former lover she thought she had left behind.
