As eight-year-old Tony Thompson begins to adjust to life in Scotland, strange and eerie happenings start to unfold around him. His family’s relocation from California to the historic estate of Lord McAshton, where his father is tasked with building a golf course, seems to provoke a cascade of bizarre occurrences. At school, Tony finds himself subjected to bullying by Lord McAshton’s grandsons, Flint and Nigel, which is just the beginning of his challenges as darker forces loom nearby.
One fateful night, while dressed in a makeshift vampire costume, Tony unknowingly attracts the attention of a young vampire named Rudolph. With a vampire hunter known as Rookery in hot pursuit, Rudolph’s attempts to attack are thwarted. In a twist of fate, he comically tumbles from the sky, but thanks to Tony’s quick thinking, he is saved by finding a cow to quench his thirst.
In gratitude for his rescue, Rudolph invites Tony on a thrilling aerial adventure, resulting in a unique friendship between the two boys. As they grow closer, Rudolph shares his family’s wish to abandon their vampiric heritage and become human. He explains their quest for a mystical amulet believed to have the power to transform vampires into humans, all while Rookery seeks to harness this power for his malicious schemes.
When Rudolph takes Tony to a cemetery to meet his family, they face skepticism from Rudolph’s father, Frederick. However, after Tony proves his worth during an attack from Rookery, he earns Frederick’s trust and officially becomes part of their mission. Together, Tony and Rudolph set their sights on retaliating against Flint and Nigel, the bullies who made their lives difficult. As their adventure intensifies, Tony finds himself caught in a thrilling narrative filled with intrigue and challenges that force him to confront hidden darkness.
Meanwhile, Rookery subtly informs Lord McAshton of the vampires’ presence, prompting revelations about historical family ties. It is discovered that Elizabeth, an ancestor of Lord McAshton, was once in love with Rudolph’s uncle, Von—the last protector of the amulet. This ill-fated romance ended tragically at the hands of the McAshton family, revealing a dark legacy that could alter their futures.
Fueled by this newfound knowledge, Tony, Rudolph, and their friend Anna embark on a quest to locate Elizabeth’s tomb, leading Tony to a prophetic vision that unveils the amulet’s whereabouts—his own bedroom. They rush against the clock to retrieve the relic, unaware that the remaining members of Rudolph’s family and Tony’s parents are converging on the site to prevent the vampires from executing their sinister ritual.
A thrilling chase ensues as Tony and Rudolph narrowly escape with the amulet while Rookery becomes entangled in a blimp, leading to a dramatic and comedic plummet off a cliff. Rookery’s unexpected return interrupts the vampires’ ceremony, confronting them with his radiant cross. In a brave effort, Tony’s parents step up to defend their son and Rudolph’s family from Rookery’s onslaught, ultimately defeating him and sending him spiraling down to what seems to be his end.
After the ceremony concludes, Tony makes a sincere wish for the transformation of the vampires into humans. As the comet passes overhead, Rudolph and his family vanish, leaving Tony and his parents pondering the success of their wish. However, weeks later, during a visit to the village market, Tony spots Rudolph and his family, now human and settling into life in the very village that once harbored their hidden existence. At first, it appears they don’t recognize him, but as he whistles a familiar tune, memories rush back, leading to a heartwarming reunion filled with redemption and forgiveness.
