Over the skies of Gotham City, two pilots, best friends by nature, find themselves burdened with an overwhelming amount of explosives. Their routine transport mission takes a dramatic turn when they are ambushed by the chaotic and mischievous Joker, voiced by Zach Galifianakis, along with his devoted minions. In a parallel twist of fate, the Joker has unleashed a horde of Gotham’s most infamous criminals, including the cunning Harley Quinn, brought to life by Jenny Slate, the enigmatic Two-Face voiced by Billy Dee Williams, the riddle-obsessed Riddler portrayed by Conan O’Brien, and many others like Scarecrow (voiced by Jason Mantzoukas), Catwoman (voiced by Zoe Kravitz), and Poison Ivy (voiced by Riki Lindhome). This wave of chaos includes villains such as Bane (voiced by Doug Benson), Mr. Freeze, The Penguin, and a slew of C-list adversaries, namely Calendar Man, Gentleman Ghost, and Condiment King.

As the citizens of Gotham grow increasingly desperate, the pilot believes in one hope: Batman, voiced by Will Arnett, will surely intervene. However, the Joker, with the cunning of a preyed upon predator, orchestrates a nefarious scheme beneath Gotham’s core—a bomb planted by Killer Croc—that threatens to send the city spiraling into an abyss. Amidst the turmoil, Commissioner Jim Gordon (voiced by Hector Elizondo) attempts to summon Batman through the Bat-signal, only to have it sabotaged by the Joker’s machinations. As chaos reigns, Jim meets with Mayor McCaskill, recently voiced by the sensational Mariah Carey, just before she makes a dramatized exit via airlift to confront the villainous plot at the core of the city.

In a bold twist, the Mayor reveals herself to actually be Batman in disguise. As he engages in a spectacular showdown with the Joker’s merry band of evildoers, he manages to convey a striking message when the Joker insists that he is Batman’s greatest foe: > “You mean nothing to me. Nobody does.” With renewed determination, Batman races against time and successfully disarms the bomb. The city erupts in cheers for their hero.

In their fortress of solitude, Batman retreats to his isolated home, consumed by his solitary habits in the Batcave—dining alone on leftover lobster thermidor, relishing moments from “Jerry Maguire,” and reflecting sorrowfully on a portrait of his parents, the haunting specter of loss lingering in his thoughts. Batman expresses with a heavy heart that his parents would indeed be proud of his latest victory. Just as he immerses himself in this self-reflection, he is startled by Alfred, voiced by Ralph Fiennes, leading to a humorous mishap that results in a comedic dropkick into the piano. Alfred realizes that Batman is navigating another emotional tide and is grieving the notion of forming connections.

As the story unfolds, the gala for Jim Gordon’s retirement takes on an unexpected twist when Batman attends as Bruce Wayne. Here he meets Dick Grayson, voiced by Michael Cera, a charming orphan yearning for family. As fate intertwines their lives, Dick presents a heartfelt request for adoption just as Barbara, voiced by Rosario Dawson, the new commissioner, proposes an ambitious collaboration to unite the police force with Batman to tackle Gotham’s escalating crime. Bruce’s visceral opposition to the idea leads to an uproar as chaos ensues with the Joker crashing the gala.

When Bat’s plans diverge with Barbara’s approach to confront the villains, the Joker unexpectedly surrenders, resulting in a significant moment of disbelief for Batman, as the city’s worst are corralled. But as Batman seeks assurance against further mischief, he notices something amiss at Arkham Asylum, triggering the next phase of the adventure.

In a gripping sequence, Batman’s meticulous planning to apprehend the Joker plants the seed for a partnership with Dick, whom he adopts—a decision that leaves “Robin” feeling exhilarated as he dons a new outfit. As they venture into the Fortress of Solitude, they navigate unexpected challenges and a recognition from Batman that he’s longed for companionship.

Upon returning, they face the Joker and unleash a spectacular finish filled with eclectic villains that jeopardize Gotham to its very core. Batman, now reliant on the comradeship of Dick, Barbara, and Alfred, unites to save the city while battling the emotional barriers he must confront to fully accept his new family. > “He truly is my greatest enemy. And we need each other.” This acknowledgment leads to a monumental alliance as Batman gracefully accepts these changes and recognizes the importance of those willing to stand by his side.

With the city saved and emotional ties forged, Batman grapples with his obligations to the Phantom Zone but finds solace in accepting his identity as a father to Robin amidst this chaotic yet heartwarming journey.
