The Last Stand

Sheriff Ray Owens finds himself in a monotonous routine enforcing the law in the small town of Sommerton Junction, Arizona. The usual crimes consist of trivial issues, including the Mayor's misdeeds and the quirky antics of local vintage arms collector Lewis Dinkum.

Owens reflects on his troubled past as a LAPD officer, characterized by a disastrous operation that left his partner crippled. This haunting memory adds to his sense of duty in the quiet town where he now serves.

Notorious drug lord Gabriel Cortez escapes from FBI custody in Las Vegas, creating shockwaves across the law enforcement community. He takes Agent Ellen Richards hostage, fleeing in a custom Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1 at speeds of over 200 mph.

Agent John Bannister organizes a blockade in Bullhead City, Arizona, attempting to intercept Cortez’s flight. Unfortunately, Cortez's henchmen ambush the blockade, ruthlessly eliminating the officers present.

Sheriff Owens sends his deputies, Jerry Bailey and Sarah Torrance, to investigate the disappearance of local farmer Parsons. Upon arrival, they discover Parsons has been brutally murdered, raising alarm in the quiet town.

The discovery of Parsons’ murder leads the deputies to trace tire tracks connected to Cortez's right-hand man, Thomas Burrell. This evidence indicates the seriousness of the threat posed by Cortez and his crew.

During a confrontation with Burrell's thugs, Deputy Bailey is shot, marking a turning point in the narrative. Owens, devastated by his friend's death, realizes the stakes have escalated dramatically.

Rallying his remaining deputies and local resident Frank Martinez, a former Marine, Owens prepares for battle. He also convinces Dinkum to join, making it a point to ensure Dinkum can carry a weapon.

As the clock approaches 7:10 a.m., Sheriff Owens and his team prepare a barricade on the town's main road, gearing up for an inevitable showdown. They strategize in anticipation of Burrell’s impending attack.

An intense firefight erupts as Burrell’s men attack. The team’s camaraderie comes to the forefront, with Figuerola heroically holding off the attackers while Deputy Torrance expertly provides cover from higher ground.

Cortez storms into town, ejecting Agent Richards from his vehicle before making a hasty retreat into a cornfield. The chaos escalates as the lawmen realize that the confrontation is far from over.

Sheriff Owens confronts Cortez on a bridge in a fierce struggle, showcasing his relentless determination. Despite suffering significant injuries, Owens manages to subdue Cortez, handcuffing him in a heroic display.

The story wraps up with Owens delivering a final warning to the Mayor about his parking habits. He then walks alongside Torrance and Martinez into a diner, reflecting on the chaos they have just survived.
