The Iceman Cometh

Feng San steals the Black Jade Buddha, a magical artifact that enables time travel. In a titanic clash atop a cliff, Fong and Feng San are knocked into a glacier and frozen for centuries. The pair become pawns of a fate that carries them into the future.

Three centuries later, scientists thaw Fong and Feng San and awaken them in 1980s Kowloon. The modern world—electricity, television, and a new social order—daunts two seasoned killers who must adapt to the present. Fong clings to his duty even as the setting forces him to redefine his methods.

Polly, a femme fatale, hires Fong as her servant and bodyguard in exchange for help obtaining an ID card. Fong feels humiliated by becoming a servant to a woman, yet he pragmatically accepts to survive in the city. The arrangement deepens their complicated dynamic and sets Polly's manipulations in motion.

Feng San resurfaces as a ruthless thief working for a local crime boss. After a botched attempt to rape the boss's girlfriend, he kills both the girlfriend and the boss, cementing his notoriety. He continues to hunt Fong as the only real obstacle to his ascent.

Fong uncovers that Polly has been using him as a tool, a prostitute and liaison rather than a loyal ally. He resolves to reclaim his autonomy and refuse further servitude. The discovery heightens his resolve to confront Feng San on his own terms.

Feng San kidnaps Polly by posing as a client, forcing Fong to race to her rescue. In the tense confrontation, he is driven to confess his love for Polly, exposing the human stakes behind their martial conflict. The rescue escalates the personal cost of the pursuit.

The fight leaves Fong severely injured and rushed to a hospital where he begins the long recovery. Polly is shaken by how close she came to losing him and reassesses their relationship. Feng San remains at large, intensifying the impending showdown.

News reaches Fong that the Buddha's wheel—the device that sent them to the future—has been recovered and is now in a Hong Kong exhibit. Feng San steals firearms to help him return to the past and conquer the dynasty. Fong trains for the inevitable confrontation and crafts a sword to counter him.

On the exhibit's roof, Fong confronts Feng San and reaffirms his duty to the emperor, vowing to capture the villain no matter the cost. The two clash in a decisive battle that ends with Feng San impaled on shards of broken glass. Fong activates the Buddha's wheel to depart with his victory secured.

Polly reaches the scene after the fight to find Feng San dead and Fong long gone, leaving her with a tearful, unspoken farewell. She senses a lingering presence of Fong and clings to the hope that he will return. The moment closes this chapter on a note of unresolved fate.

Sometime later, Polly quits prostitution and starts a corner store in Kowloon, continuing to live in the city she knows. She encounters a man who resembles Fong, suggesting reincarnation or lingering fate, and she joyfully proclaims that Fong is alive. The ending leaves a hopeful, enigmatic hint of reunion across time.
