A Ming Dynasty officer, He Ying, is tasked with delivering a legendary time-travel device from India, along with a LINGA, to the Ming emperor. The mission goes awry when he is betrayed, and both he and his companions are frozen in time. Alongside Sao and Niehu, he ends up entombed in cryo-stasis during a fierce struggle, a fate that would redefine their lives across centuries.
Decades later, the three are discovered and placed in cryo-stasis pods before being transported to modern-day Hong Kong. An accident during the journey shatters their confinement, freeing them into a bustling, unfamiliar city where the rules have changed in ways they could not imagine. They sprint into the streets, trying to make sense of a world of neon lights, fast talk, and technologies that feel like magic to their eyes.
In this new era, Niehu and Sao quickly set their sights on revenge against He Ying, even as they struggle to understand the complexities of contemporary society. Meanwhile, He Ying forms an uneasy alliance with May, a sharp-witted resident who uses his confusion to her advantage, charging him exorbitant sums for rent and meals as he tries to navigate this alien environment. The trio’s paths intersect with crime in surprising ways: Niehu and Sao end up aiding two Indian mobsters to escape the police, which cushions their entry into the criminal underworld they encounter in the city’s shadowy corners.
Amid the chaos, a looming pursuit centers on Cheung, who is actively searching for the trio, with a particular focus on He Ying. Through a series of flashbacks, the film reveals that the four men—He Ying, Sao, Niehu, and Cheung—were once blood brothers who fought side by side. Their bond fractured when He Ying was betrayed and accused of treason, a betrayal that now echoes across time as old loyalties collide with new dangers.
As the modern landscape unfolds, the story threads together encounters with May and her mother, tense police chases, and a battlefield-grade mastery of martial arts woven with emerging technology. With each passing moment, He Ying pieces together who is hunting Cheung and why, all while trying to keep his own past from tearing apart the fragile alliances he must forge to survive. The film traces a careful balance between duty and survival, tradition and transformation, as a group of time-displaced warriors tries to chart a new fate in a world that looks nothing like the one they left behind.
