The Girl on the Train

Recovering alcoholic Rachel Watson rides the train to New York City each day after losing her job and marriage. She finds herself fixating on her ex-husband Tom, his new wife Anna, and their neighbors Scott and Megan Hipwell.

During her troubled marriage to Tom, Rachel battles depression over her infertility, which leads to her drinking problem. This addiction results in frequent blackouts and destructive behavior that puts her relationship and life in jeopardy.

At a barbecue held by Tom's boss, Rachel drunkenly creates a scene that ultimately costs Tom his job. This incident deepens the rift between Rachel and Tom and highlights her alcohol dependency.

One afternoon, Rachel sees Megan kissing a stranger while traveling home on the train. Infuriated, Rachel decides to confront Megan but later wakes up in her bed with no memory of how she got there, covered in blood.
