The Concorde… Airport ’79

Kevin Harrison, a corrupt arms dealer, engineers a plot to destroy the Concorde during its maiden flight in order to bury his illicit weapons deals. He also tries to steer Maggie away from the truth by manipulating information and suppressing sources. The plan hinges on sabotaging the aircraft from within while presenting a calm public face.

Environmental protestors fly a hot air balloon into the Concorde's approach path, forcing a go-around as the jet attempts to land at Washington Dulles. The tense maneuver exposes how the flight is under external pressures, even before the sabotage is fully in motion. Harrison's wider scheme remains hidden at this stage.

Carl Parker approaches Maggie with claims that he holds documentation of Harrison's illegal arms deals with communist regimes. He is shot by an assailant who chases Maggie, adding personal danger to the investigative thread.

Parker's wife delivers the documents to Maggie, who reads them and realizes that Harrison lied. The discovery sharpens Maggie's resolve to report on the flight and the conspiracy behind it.

The Concorde takes off from Charles de Gaulle, beginning its transatlantic flight toward Washington, D.C. The crew remains unaware that a hidden threat accompanies their journey.

An off-course surface-to-air missile locks onto the Concorde. The United States Air Force scrambles F-15 fighters to intercept, destroying the missile before it can strike the airliner.

A second attack—an F-4 Phantom II—engages the Concorde's trajectory as French Mirage F1s scramble to assist. The aircraft dodges the missiles, but the detonation near the fuselage damages hydraulics and the crew fights to maintain control.

Damaged hydraulics force the Concorde to divert and land at Le Bourget Airport near Paris instead of its original destination. The aircraft barely makes the touchdown, and the stressed airframe strains to keep the passengers safe.

Having failed to secure Maggie's silence with a promise to expose the truth, Harrison tries to buy her off. He arranges for mechanic Froelich to plant a timed device in the cargo door control unit aboard the jet. At Paris security, Froelich's money accidentally falls, triggering a chase before he is knocked unconscious.

During the flight to Moscow, the timed device opens the cargo door as scheduled, even though the crew is unaware. The opening tears the cabin carpet and signals an imminent structural breach, jeopardizing the fuselage and flight controls.

The cargo door rips away, causing a rapid decompression and damage that knocks out primary flight controls. The pilots improvise with backup systems while fuel runs low and they search for a safe landing site.

With limited options, the crew targets a ski area along the Alps and performs a belly landing on the Patscherkofel slope. Rescue teams arrive to evacuate the passengers as Maggie documents the event for broadcast.

Maggie reports the accident to a news outlet and teases a major exposé about Harrison's illicit arms dealings. Her coverage brings public attention to the conspiracy and places pressure on those involved.

While en route back to Washington on his private plane, Harrison watches Maggie's broadcast and commits suicide. His death removes the man at the center of the conspiracy, but the truth has already begun to surface.

The last crew members evacuate the Concorde, and seconds later the fuselage explodes. The crisis ends with the destruction of the aircraft and the exposure of Harrison's network, underscoring the costs of corruption and deceit.
