In 19th century Texas, grizzled Ranger Jake Cutter (John Wayne) is tasked with recapturing notorious outlaw Paul Regret (Stuart Whitman), who's evaded execution for too long. As they track down Regret, their path crosses with the ruthless Comancheros, a gang fueling violence among Native American tribes. Amidst chaos and bloodshed, Cutter finds an unlikely ally in Regret, forcing him to question his duty and morality.
