The Black Knight

John is a skilled blacksmith and swordsmith who trains at King Arthur's court. As a commoner, he battles social barriers while hoping for a future with Lady Linet. His talents attract both admiration and envy within Camelot.

The Earl of Yeonil's castle is attacked by Saracens and Cornishmen disguised as Vikings. His wife is killed in the assault and he loses his memory in the ensuing chaos. The attackers are revealed to be part of a scheme by Palamides and King Mark to undermine Arthur and Christianity.

Palamides, a knight of the Round Table, secretly plots with the pagan Cornish King Mark to overthrow Arthur. They pretend to be allies while pursuing their own agenda. The danger to Camelot becomes clear.

John accuses Palamides' servant Bernard of murder in front of Arthur. Arthur grants him three months to prove the accusation or face execution himself. The challenge forces John to prove his case and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy.

Sir Ontzlake sees potential in John and takes him under his wing. He trains him in swordplay so that John can adopt the secret identity of the wandering Black Knight. This new persona will be central to challenging Palamides and Mark.

A raid by 'Vikings' targets a newly founded monastery, taking Lady Linet and the monks to Stonehenge for a pagan sacrifice. The raid demonstrates the collaboration between Palamides and Mark against Arthur's realm. John, as the Black Knight, begins to intervene.

The Black Knight arrives at the ritual location and saves Lady Linet from the pagan threat. Arthur and his knights join the battle and defeat the pagans, culminating in the destruction of Stonehenge.

Palamides tricks Linet into his castle, hoping she will reveal the Black Knight's identity. John learns of the plan and races to protect her, continuing to operate in disguise.

Ontzlake sends John to King Mark's castle, and a pro-Arthur woodcarver shows him a hidden tunnel into the royal chambers. This tunnel enables John to overhear plots and stage interventions.

From King Mark's castle, John overhears Mark and Palamides finalising their plan to turn Arthur against the Black Knight. Palamides then returns to Camelot and fools Arthur into thinking the Black Knight leads Viking raids.

John returns to Camelot dressed as the Black Knight and, despite revealing his true identity, is briefly imprisoned. Lady Linet and Sir Ontzlake intervene and free him, with Ontzlake posting bail to Arthur.

John leads a counter-offensive to Mark's castle, trapping Mark's forces and kidnapping the king. The plan showcases his growing courage and tactical skill.

The following morning the Saracens land near Camelot and Palamides, along with Bernard, infiltrate Camelot. Their scheme is to sow panic and seize control by misdirecting the Camelot defense.

Bernard stabs a man in Arthur's bed, only to discover it is Mark in disguise. The deception is exposed, triggering a frantic chase as John pursues Bernard and the plot unravels.

The knights expose Palamides's plot as they repel the attack by the Saracens and Cornish raiders. John defeats Palamides in single combat, is knighted by Arthur, and receives his heart's desire: marriage to Lady Linet.
