Yue Xihong is solely driven by his obsession with acquiring the Seven Stars Reserpine Technique manual. After Monster dies, Yue learns Ao Tianheng possesses the manual and immediately commands his disciples to assassinate Ao and seize it, regardless of Ao's innocence. This reveals Yue's true nature, he manipulates his adopted sons as tools for his own power grabs, callously eliminating anyone who stands between him and the coveted technique.

Earlier, Yue tests his Eagles' loyalty by sending them on the dangerous Monster mission, showing he values obedience over his disciples' wellbeing.

Quihua throws the manual into the rapid river to prevent Yue Xihong from ever possessing it. She cannot destroy it quickly enough, and throwing it into fast-moving water is the fastest way to deny Yue's pursuit while buying time for their escape. However, Yue dives into the river after it, demonstrating his fanatical obsession with the technique's power.

After finding his dying father in the hidden hole, killed by Yue twenty years earlier, Red Eagle gains knowledge of Yue's true evil nature. Despite being blinded by Yue's condor as punishment, Red Eagle returns to the Flying Eagle Fort to publicly reveal Yue's crimes. His desire for justice and his father's final gift of inner qigong fuel his courageous but ultimately tragic act of defiance.

The father passes on a fragment of inner qigong to Red Eagle before dying, giving him the power to potentially challenge Yue.

Qi recognizes Quihua as the woman who rescued and nursed him back to health after his near-fatal fall from Hua Mountain. Though ordered to kill the island's leader and seize the manual, Qi cannot bring himself to harm someone who saved his life and has never wronged him. His moral conflict reflects his growing doubt about Yue's orders throughout the film.

During the brutal showdown at Hua Mountain's cliff edge, Monster grabs Qi Yingming and both tumble off the precipice. Monster dies from the fall while Qi is grievously wounded but survives. Her hidden identity also creates dramatic irony when Qi later discovers the truth on Sunflower Island.

After Red Eagle publicly reveals Yue's evil deeds, including the murder of his father twenty years prior, Yue retaliates by releasing a trained condor that blinds Red Eagle.
