Terror of Frankenstein

Victor Frankenstein becomes obsessed with applying alchemical principles to modern science. He leaves for university in Geneva and secretly assembles a creature from dead matter in a laboratory, hoping to bestow life. When the being awakens, he is horrified, and the shock triggers a mental breakdown.

The Monster awakens, and Frankenstein is horrified by what he has created, suffering a mental breakdown. His friend Henry Clerval visits the addled scientist, and Frankenstein comes to believe that he had imagined the whole event.

The Monster wanders abandoned, mute and childlike, in search of food and shelter. He observes a family and gradually learns to speak and read by watching them.

When the Monster tries to enter the family's house, they mistake him for a burglar and react with hostility. After they flee, the Monster burns down their house in retaliation.

Feeling rejected by his creator, the Monster resolves to take revenge on Frankenstein. He pledges to make him suffer for the loneliness and mistreatment he endured.

Back at his family home in Switzerland, Frankenstein begins to recover and spends time with Elizabeth, his fiancée and adoptive sister, and his younger brother William. He reflects on his actions and worries about the Monster's threat.

The Monster stalks and murders William. Frankenstein meets with the Monster, who confesses to killing William and demands that Frankenstein revive him by creating a mate. The confrontation reveals the Monster's desperate desire for companionship and revenge.

Frankenstein travels to Scotland to begin building a female companion in a makeshift laboratory, but he fears that their offspring could become a race of murderers and threaten humanity.

In the course of the plan, Frankenstein destroys the female he was building. In retaliation, the Monster kills Clerval, Frankenstein's closest friend.

Frankenstein returns to Elizabeth to be married, only to be hunted by the Monster who kills Elizabeth on their wedding night.

Grief-stricken by Elizabeth's death, Frankenstein leaves his home forever and vows to kill his creation.

Frankenstein pursues the Monster for years, hoping to end the threat. His pursuit brings him to Captain Walton's ship, which is trapped in the ice on an expedition to the North Pole.

Frankenstein narrates his tale to Walton, and the Monster confronts him one last time. The two figures face off as the icy seas close in around them.

Frankenstein dies of a fatal heart attack, having told his life story. The Monster, unsatisfied with revenge, wanders the cold to die, ending the chase.
