Target Zero

During a Korean War retreat, Ann Galloway is knocked out for hours as their car is forced down a hillside by enemy shell fire. Her Korean assistant Sue is killed in the attack, leaving Ann separated and vulnerable on the battlefield.

Ann is rescued by the British crew operating a U.S. Army M4A3E8 Sherman tank. The rescue places her back with Allied units behind enemy lines and out of immediate danger.

Ann and the tank crew are found by an American patrol led by Lt. Tom Flagler, a soldier's soldier whose leadership is admired by his men. Flagler's unit becomes their guide as they navigate back toward the front.

They determine to break through to rejoin Easy Company on Sullivan's Muscle, a hilltop position. The journey ahead is perilous, as enemy forces remain close and relief seems distant.

On the way, they pick up a lost mortar team, Private George and his loader who is known as the Strangler. The addition strengthens the group but also shifts the dynamic among the soldiers.

Sgt Kensemmit bears a grudge against American soldiers due to a past incident and is openly hostile toward Flagler. His attitude clashes with the more cooperative British crew and sets up friction within the unit.

Back at Sullivan's Muscle, Tom discovers that Easy Company has been massacred and their position left open. The scene shatters morale but steels the resolve to hold the line.

Under orders to hold the line until reinforcements arrive, they dig the tank in, set up fire zones, and prepare to withstand the assault. Air and naval bombardment support is promised to break the enemy’s push.

As the enemy climbs the hill and opens fire, the defense holds with help from Air Force fighters and a battleship firing 16-inch guns from coastal waters about 20 miles away. The shelling creates an opening for a counterattack.

Flagler and Kensemmit reconcile their differences, with Kensemmit apologizing for his hostility. The moment signals a renewed unity among the Allied units.

In the aftermath, both Flagler and Kensemmit realize that Ann embodies the very kind of thing they have fought for all along. Her presence embodies the humane purpose of their sacrifice.

With renewed resolve and mutual understanding, the group holds the line until relief arrives. The mission ends in victory, demonstrating the bond between soldiers from different nations.
