In feudal Japan, a ruthless samurai, Shinzaemon, murders the moneylender Soetsu and casts his body into the cursed Kasenega‑Fuchi river, said to swallow all who drown. Two decades later Shinzaemon’s handsome son, Shinkichi, encounters Soetsu’s daughter, Toyoshiga. Their love blossoms, but the lingering spirit of Soetsu threatens to doom them.
