A woman photographer witnesses a terror attack in Baramulla and flees to safety. She reaches an Indian Army camp and shows the soldiers photos that identify one of the attackers. This opening incident sets the plot in motion.

The militant arrives in Bangalore dressed in Hindu clothes and is received by his Muslim parents. He is attacked by his parents and taken to a hospital for treatment. The parents are arrested and jailed as a result.

The CBI chief Srinath visits the family and learns they could not bear to have a terrorist son. The team goes to the hospital where they learn the terrorist has escaped. This fuels the investigation and deepens the conspiracy.

In a Bangalore slum, Guru who looks like the terrorist lives with his family. He is repeatedly arrested by the police for being the terrorist, but it becomes clear that Guru and the terrorist are the same person.

Guru kidnaps Rajeshwari, the Defence Minister's daughter and his love interest, with help from a slum associate. He demands the release of the imprisoned militant Imtiaz in exchange for her safe return.

Guru convinces the police and the CBI that he and the terrorist are separate. An associate rigs a projector at the drop zone to show a recording of Guru as the terrorist, and Imtiaz is released. A bomb explodes, destroying the projector.

Guru chases the jeep carrying Imtiaz and his associate. When they jump out, he drives the jeep toward a petrol pump and detonates it as he escapes, after which the police believe both terrorists are dead.

Guru shaves the hair off the imprisoned terrorist to reveal head tattoos. He notes the tattoos and then pours a liquid over them to remove the markings, releasing the terrorist.

It is revealed that Guru and the CBI chief orchestrated the entire sequence. The Baramulla attack was staged to frame Guru via a pretending photographer, and the supposed parents were actually agents. The tattoos point to a cache of arms and explosives that Guru would manipulate.

While placing fake bombs at the Mysore Palace, Guru is confronted by Rajeshwari. He tries to tell her the truth, but she does not believe him, and the bomb detonates, killing her.

Devastated, Guru returns home to reveal the truth but is attacked by his supposed parents. He escapes to a secluded place. The CBI chief confronts him, shoots him in both legs, and reveals his own origins and ties to terrorists.

The CBI chief explains that he is the son of an Indian Army officer killed by terrorists, and that Guru's 'parents' were Pakistani terrorists who raised him. The revelation upends Guru's assumptions and reframes the conflict.

Pinky helps Guru escape and take shelter at her house. He returns to Mysore Palace to defuse bombs, but his adoptive sister dies in the explosions. The fake father kills the CBI chief, and Guru is eventually released as the story closes with a voiceover about overcoming prejudices.
