Swan Lake

Prince Siegfried is out riding with his friends when he spots a swan wearing a crown gliding on the lake. Adolf fires an arrow at the swan, but at the instant the arrow would strike, he is transformed into a statue. The magical incident hints at Rothbart's dark power behind the scenes.

Benno accuses the swan of witchcraft, while an owl watches from behind, foreshadowing Rothbart's presence. Siegfried senses something uncanny about the bird, even as the others argue. The appearance hints at a larger, dangerous magic at work.

The swan transforms into Odette, a woman in white, and Siegfried approaches her. At first she fears him, but she eventually speaks of her plight and the sorcerer Rothbart who cursed her. She explains that only a true love's heart can break the spell.

Odette tells Siegfried her history and the curse, and he vows to help. He invites her to his birthday ball the next night, hoping to claim her as his bride. Odette hesitates but is drawn to his sincerity.

Rothbart blocks Odette's escape by baring doors and lifting the drawbridge, trapping her. He orders his daughter Odille to masquerade as Odette to seduce Siegfried. The plan is to force Odette to forget Siegfried by making Siegfried fall for a counterfeit.

Odille, disguised as Odette in a black dress, goes to the ball and captivates Siegfried, who believes he has found his true love. He proclaims his love and vows marriage, unaware of the deception. Meanwhile Odette escapes Rothbart's castle with the help of the squirrels Hans and Margarita.

Odette arrives at Siegfried's castle, determined to confront the deception. She witnesses Siegfried dancing with Odille, who is posing as Odette, and hears him pledge his love to her.

Odille's true form is revealed and she and Rothbart transform into birds. Odette and Siegfried give chase back toward Rothbart's castle.

Hans tries to help Siegfried but is transformed into a toad by Rothbart. Siegfried fights Rothbart in a desperate duel to save Odette and undo the curse.

To save Odette from permanent captivity, Siegfried plunges his sword into his own heart. A flash of yellow light obliterates Rothbart and Odille and breaks the curse.

With the magic gone, Rothbart's castle collapses and Adolf returns to human form. Hans and Margarita are reunited and Odette's curse is finally broken.

Odette and Siegfried reunite in each other's arms as the sun rises. Margarita notes their love proved stronger than Rothbart's magic, and the swans circle overhead in celebration.
