In the kingdom of Damortis, Empress Sofia, Maricel Laxa, is killed by her brother Basilicus, Mark Gil, who orders a Mandog to carry out the deed. Sofia’s only daughter and heir, Princess Dahlia, Anne Curtis, is saved and spirited away by Gaman, Turko Cervantes, along with Mico, Jomari Uy, to the world of mortals. This brutal act paves the way for Basilicus to seize the throne of Damortis, while Amain, a mystic teacher, discerns the truth after seeking out Gaman in their hidden refuge in Tondo, Manila. As Basilicus’s men close in, they capture Gaman, and Amain slips in to recover Dahlia and his apprentice, Jomar. From there, Amain entrusts Dahlia to the care of his students—Jobert, Oman, and Samuel—urging them to treat the girl fairly, even though their instinct and training tempt them to treat her as a servant.
Gaman is dragged before Basilicus and pressed for Dahlia’s location. Basilicus, cruel and calculating, places a worm inside Gaman’s ear as leverage, and before Gaman dies he reveals, in a final act of defiance, that Dahlia and her people are in Talisay. Rava, Basilicus’s loyal right hand, and his cadre press forward to locate the girl. While the young friends are away on a serenade, Amain is captured by Rava, who burns his house, and Dahlia learns too late that Amain cannot be saved in time. The teens, led by the weight of their mission, push toward their homeland, Damortis, to complete what their mentor could not.
A strange worm quietly enters Oman’s ear, slipping past everyone’s notice, as Jobert, Oman, Samuel, Mico, and Dahlia encounter Gabriel, a miner who points them toward a place where they can beg for food. They find shelter in a house whose occupants recognize Dahlia as the Pearl of Damortis, and there she learns the grim news of her mother’s death. Meanwhile, Jobert, Oman, and Mico fall into Rava’s trap and are hauled to the palace dungeon, where they learn that Gabriel’s information came for a bounty. They are unable to locate Dahlia and Samuel in the labyrinth of intrigue, but a chance encounter with Amain in the dungeon allows a daring escape. The group confronts Basilicus and Rava in a fierce confrontation, testing their resolve and their bond.
Dahlia, summoning the courage befitting a rightful heir, pleads with Basilicus to surrender. The scene erupts into a larger war when Gabriel arrives with a contingent of men to face Basilicus’s soldiers. Samuel, ever resourceful, seeks out the Mandogs—daring the impossible—and brings them into battle, turning the tide against Basilicus’s forces. Basilicus makes a last, desperate attempt to flee through a hidden trapdoor beneath the throne, only to be cornered by Dahlia and Samuel. In a climactic moment, Basilicus raises a crossbow to strike, but Samuel steps between the weapon and Dahlia, saving her life. Gabriel’s troops crush Basilicus’s guards, and the would-be usurper retreats to the throne room, where he abandons his crown only to face the Mandogs in a final reckoning. In a fateful maneuver, Dahlia treads on the train of Basilicus’s cloak, sending him crashing onto the crown and becoming the target of the Mandogs’ final judgment.
With the weaponry and loyalty of Gabriel, the crown lands on Dahlia’s head, confirming her as the new ruler of Damortis. In a gesture that seals the new era, Dahlia offers Gabriel the position of general of her troops, trusting him to defend the realm. Six months pass, and the kingdom gathers to celebrate the coronation of Dahlia as queen. Gabriel presents Amain with an umbrella as a keepsake to remember Damortis, and Amain, together with Jobert, Oman, and Samuel, departs for Talisay. On the journey home, Amain opens the umbrella and catches a glimpse of Damortis through its threads, a sign that the realm’s magic and memory endure beyond borders. In a final rite of passage, Amain hands Samuel a small token, his “tuldok,” marking the moment when Samuel steps into adulthood and carries the legacy of Damortis forward.
