Kanakamurthy, the illiterate youngest son, is treated harshly by his strict father in rural Pandavapura. His poor grades and temper drive him to lash out, including beating a teacher. In a moment of anger, he runs away with Parimala, starting a turbulent chapter for both.

Parimala and Kanakamurthy cross paths at school, and Satyamurthy eventually adopts Parimala after her parents die. Kanakamurthy grows close to Parimala as their lives become intertwined. This arrangement foreshadows the complex family web to come.

Satyamurthy marries Kanakamurthy and Parimala after falling in love with them. Parimala attempts suicide upon learning of the marriage, and Kanakamurthy saves her from the brink.

Parimala's apparent love for Kanakamurthy is revealed as insincere; she devalues him and claims there is no real future together. Threats of divorce push Kanakamurthy into a painful confrontation with her.

Dodda convinces Kanakamurthy to consider Padma's hand, and Padma begins to fall for him despite an awkward start. Kanakamurthy is wary of the past, but Padma's persistence and kindness draw him toward a new future.

Padma writes to Kanakamurthy that her parents want her to marry Karigowda's son, a match Padma does not want. Satyamurthy is advised to keep Kanakamurthy away from Padma, with the threat that if Kanakamurthy leaves Padma, Satyamurthy will adopt him.

Following Dodda's advice, Kanakamurthy takes Padma to a temple after gatecrashing her wedding with Karigowda's son. Satyamurthy is angered by the stunt and the attempt to separate Padma from Kanakamurthy, and he breaks off the relationship.

Padma and Kanakamurthy settle near the village and become seen as a perfect couple by Padma's family. Padma's uncle funds the bus service Kanakamurthy launches in his father's name, and Padma later becomes district collector. The couple's rise cements their status in the community.

Satyamurthy encounters their son and admires the values he embodies, though the family remains unaware of the connection. This moment marks a quiet bridge between generations.

The family quietly attends the opening of Kanakamurthy's father's dream charity hospital for the poor. Kanakamurthy expresses respect for his father and briefly leaves, signaling a wary reconciliation.

Kanakamurthy's mother Lakshmi urges reintegration, reminding Satyamurthy that he was once Kanakamurthy before his son took over. Her words emphasize virtue and shared lineage as the path back.

Kanakamurthy's son gives a canned kheer to Satyamurthy to show love, and Satyamurthy falls ill after consuming it. The illness shocks the family and tests their unity before more dramatic revelations.

Karigowda tries to frame Kanakamurthy by poisoning a kheer to prove that he plotted against his father, but Satyamurthy intervenes and is able to rescue Kanakamurthy from Karigowda's henchmen. The town gathers as truth emerges.

With Karigowda defeated and truth revealed, Satyamurthy reconciles with Kanakamurthy. He apologizes and begs forgiveness, bringing a fragile peace to the family and ending the feud.
